Track closed in about 1973 although it appears to still somewhat be in
existence even if long abandoned. From satellite images (search for
State Highway 20 Browns Valley, CA and you'll find it) it appears
nothing remains except for the track surface which is badly broken and
overgrown with vegetation as nature slowly reclaims the area.

Note: Sierra Mesa track configuration in 1972:
Banking: Frontstretch and Backstretch = 2°
Banking: all 4 Turns = 6°
Nickname: The 'Big Half'

Satellite views of the track just SW of Browns Valley, CA, appear to
show the paved oval still existing. A marker on Google Maps says it is
the "First Paved Race Track on the West Coast"

The oval is slightly visible from Highway 20 on Google Streetview
