When that deal was done it was noted that TBR had prior commitments and was going to follow through with them. This is the last of those prior commitments. 14. JR-TV posted: 10.25.2017 - 7:18 am Rate this comment: (0) (1) ^Yes but in fulfilling those deals the #7 is being ran as a Premium car. Thus Jay Robinson should be listed as the owner. The #7 that Justin Marks drove at Talladega had Premium Motorsports logos on the front under the headlight. The #7 is running to follow through with the deals TBR already had but it is not as Tommy Baldwin Racing it is as Premium Motorsports. The #7 was a third Premium car at Talladega and is basically taking the place of the #55 as the second Premium car at Martinsville. 15. 1995z71 posted: 10.25.2017 - 10:16 am Rate this comment: (4) (0) ^You are correct, they did swap logos as these cars were prepared in advance but Tommy Baldwin is still listed as the owner on the official entry list. So if you want to be accurate and official with the correct info, its a TBR entry. 16. Altracing posted: 10.26.2017 - 4:40 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Going to make my prediction for who will be the final four after this round. I'm basing my choices off of what happened the last time these drivers raced at these tracks in the round and based of their finish, average running position, driver rating and the amount of points they have starting the round. That being said I believe the final four at Homestead will be Martin Truex Jr, Kyle Busch, Brad Keselowski, and Jimmie Johnson 17. 95McDowellFan posted: 10.26.2017 - 10:52 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Looking like Premium is replacing the #55 with the #7 18. JSPorts posted: 10.27.2017 - 12:44 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Actually I think that this race was already scheduled as part of TBR's limited schedule. Premium didn't enter the #55 at the spring Martinsville race either, and I expect it back before the end of the year. The 7 could also possibly be back at some point if there are still races left from the TBR limited schedule, but I doubt both cars will enter the same race because it would mean one could go home (plus Premium would have to prepare 3 cars for the same race.) 19. JR-TV posted: 10.27.2017 - 7:39 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Still no word on who will be in the BK #83? I assumed it would be Brett Moffitt but with Gray Gaulding not in a Premium car, I wonder if it will be him. 20. JR-TV posted: 10.27.2017 - 7:43 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) The #7 is definitely a Premium Motorsports entry. I now have that confirmed without a doubt. Premium has given the #55's owner points and attempts to the #7, essentially changing the second (non-chartered) Premium car to the #7 from the #55. This will continue past Martinsville as Joey Gase will be the driver of the Premium Motorsports #7 at Texas next week. Jay Robinson should be listed as the owner of the #7 on Racing-Reference and on any entry list. Pat Tryson should be listed as crew chief of the #7 because he was named crew chief of the #55 a few weeks ago. So with #55 becoming the #7, Tryson and any other crew member associated with the #55 moves to the #7. If the #55 shows up again this year it will be as a third Premium car. Here's a link to where I heard this(Read the comments section on Reddit): https://www.reddit.com/r/NASCAR/comments/79062a/joey_gase_driving_for_premium_in_the_7_at_texas/ 21. 95McDowellFan posted: 10.27.2017 - 9:59 am Rate this comment: (2) (0) Okay to clear this up, the #7 being entered as Tommy Baldwin Racing is basically the same situation as David Starr's Xfinity car being entered as BJ McLeod, even though its a SS Greenlight Racing car, yes its a car that comes out of the Premium Motorsports shop, but when the teams enter these races, Tommy Baldwin gets entered as the owner of the #7 22. JR-TV posted: 10.27.2017 - 2:15 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) ^I get what you're saying and that might have been the case at Talladega but now Premium has switched owner points between the #55 and the #7. That makes me think the Jay Robinson has to become the listed owner for the #7. Because the #7 for the rest of the year is the same team and owner points as the Premium #55 from the beginning of the season through last week at Kansas. Tommy Baldwin was not the listed owner of the #55 all season meaning he should now not be the listed owner of the #7. Because essentially the #55 and the #7 are one and the same. If the #55 shows up again this year perhaps it would be listed as owned by Tommy Baldwin using the points from the #7 from earlier in the year. You see Premium is making their second car #7 and their third car(if it ever shows up) #55. The owner points swap was necessary in case more than 40 cars show up at Texas next week or any race for the rest of the year. The #55 had more attempts than the MBM #66 and probably the RWR #51 meaning if qualifying is rained out the #55(now the #7) would get in the show leaving a car with less attempts missing the race. The #7(now the #55) has less attempts than the MBM #66 or the RWR #51 meaning it would miss the show against those teams should qualifying be rained out. 23. 95McDowellFan posted: 10.27.2017 - 9:40 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Gaulding in the #83 24. Mannoroth posted: 10.28.2017 - 11:33 am Rate this comment: (0) (1) Question - is it still smart to win twice or all the races in the same round (Round 3)? Because those playoff points are now useless, they won't count at Homestead. So there's no point to race for them in the remaining 4 races, because who advances and who doesn't will be determined just by points + points from stages. Am I right? 25. JSPorts posted: 10.28.2017 - 12:01 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Yes, it is still smart to try to win the races. That's the entire point of the sport. 26. Mannoroth posted: 10.28.2017 - 1:13 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) 25. Of course, but it's so hard to win in the Cup Series. You can get some wins now, but you can also lose at Homestead and the title won't be yours... That was my point - all you need to do is win once and then better get ready for Homestead instead of trying to get as many wins as possible, because the more races you win, the bigger probability you won't win when it matters the most (Kyle Busch was nearly eliminated after his 2 wins in a row at Loudon and Dover). So if Truex can win the next 3 races, sweep the entire round, he will have 4 wins in a row, which is extremely rare nowadays (even Kyle Busch in Xfinity always fell short) and his luck can run out at Homestead... So I think it's better to play it smart after winning a race. 30. Corey posted: 10.28.2017 - 4:16 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @29. Yes it is smart. Imagine Truex and Ky. Busch have problems at Martinsville and Texas. Hamlin wins both of them. He is going to fight tooth and nail at Phoenix to make sure they don't win. His two biggest threats for the title are gone and Homestead just got that much easier. 31. Look at how Keselowski and Chase raced each other as hard as possible, BUT CLEANLY, and I think Kes has more class than to just punt somebody, though I'm sure Jeff Gordon would recall Texas a few years back and disagree. I also don't like how when they start a new round the drivers don't reset to the same amount of points. For example, truex had 4069 points entering today and 8th place Elliott had 4006 points. It's near impossible for chase to make the final four at homestead so like I said I think they need to reset all drivers to the same amount of points. He literally destroyed everyone at Pocono (deleted his 6 second gap to the leaders and then gave them another 6 seconds), was just better at passing slower cars than Jones and swept Bristol again, destroyed the field at Loudon, used Chase Elliott's lack of experience to his advantage and won Dover and now led the most laps and won with some help of late cautions. And that's not all, because remember that he was really unlucky in the first 20 races of the season. He definitely should win Phoenix and the Coca-Cola 600. Was just really unfortunate that Logano blew his tire and Austin Dillon made it on fuel. Kyle Busch is simply in his best years that are usually between 30 and 40. So he now has the same amount of Cup wins as DTM legend Bernd Schneider (43) and just one more win to tie Bill Elliott. And damn, he's coming so fast to have more Cup wins than Truck wins... Plus, this is his 3rd playoff win this season and he won't finish his typical best season with 4 wins like in 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2016. He has 5 now. 132. That's just pure bad luck. What I've seen the past few weeks is a totally different Chase Elliott, on-track and off-track. He's more aggressive, and he doesn't take the blame for everything that happens to him. I think his new mentality will help him to shake off what just happened, and I think he will win at Texas. It couldn't come at a better time for him, and he's looked like the only Hendrick car with a real shot. As it stands right now, I really don't see how he can make it to Homestead without a win. If we assume 2 more winners (and one of them isn't Elliott,) then he needs to make up 26 points on Kevin Harvick over 2 races. Harvick is great at Phoenix, so it will be very hard for Chase to out-point him there. Texas could be his best shot to make up a bunch of points by doing well in the stages if Harvick struggles. Of course, Chase will also have to pass Johnson, Blaney & Hamlin. It shouldn't be too difficult for him to pass Blaney & Johnson (relatively speaking) because they haven't had the speed. There were two laps to go, on a track where making a clean pass often takes multiple laps. Elliott's fender rub had disappeared, so there's no reason to think his tires wouldn't have lasted. Hamlin was quicker when following, but likely would not have been when side-by-side with Elliott. Had Hamlin chosen to try to make a clean pass, they likely would have been side by side for the last two laps (which is great for the fans), but Elliott, being on the outside on turn 4, probably would have had the advantage to the finish line. 205. Logano or Truex could also do it in the past, but both failed... But Truex will most likely join him soon this time due to his enormous amount of points. 206. The last time they had fewer than 5 wins was when Jeff Gordon won 3 times and Jerry Nadeau won once in 2000 (prior to their becoming a 4-car team.) 207. Reading lips in the incident, it's clear that Denny is saying to Chase as he's walking to his car. "That's enough...that's enough (of the post race door slamming). I know you're pissed off. i know." Before I had thought that the two were arguing, and thought what the hell could Denny be arguing after deliberately wrecking him? But at least Denny apologized right away, that counts for something. Also, kudos to Chase for not accepting the apology and wrecking him back at Phoenix the next week. Screw apologies when you get deliberately wrecked like that with that much on the line. 213. He was able to win Chicagoland (Round of 16 race 1), Charlotte (Round of 12 race 1), and Homestead (Championship 4). 214.
