NBC moved this race to USA because of coverage of the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics. USA previously televised the Daytona Twin 125 qualifying races back in the early 1980s. 7. I would like to see what he could do in a quality cup ride, he was really solid for JGR in Xfinity; just didn't have the best of luck. Another subpar run for Jeff, if I was Rick I'd rethink this whole situation, the #88 could have gotten the same results from a young up-and-comer. 8. Anonymous posted: 08.06.2016 - 11:36 pm Rate this comment: (1) (1) Is this what Dale Jr has to look forward to when and if he comes back? Finishing around 20th to 25th every week. The 88 team was good to start the season but in the last few races they've gone back to running like they did in 2009 and 2010 when 20th place was like a top 10. I hope they get this straighten out soon because Dale Jr or whoever drives the car deserves better. Maybe they should get rid of Greg Ives or something, I don't know. I would just like to know how the team goes from running in the top 10 in the first half of the year and now is lucky to finish in the top 20. What gives? 10. JG24ChasElliottFan posted: 08.07.2016 - 12:32 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) To respond to some of the comments about Gordon's poor performance, you have to remember that the #88 team has not been qualifying well at all this season so a 21st place qualifying effort isn't all that surprising. Gordon ran alright in practice (18th/9th) but if he isn't up to par come race time, then we should be worrying. I'm hoping that this weekend and two weeks from now at Bristol will be his last two races (Darlington would be cool too but pushing it) since it doesn't seem like he has that spark that he has when he's with a team that he's settled with. I won't doubt him but something's missing which is why this is more of an epilogue than another chapter. 11. chevyfan98 posted: 08.07.2016 - 7:50 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) 9- These are the qualifying results, not the race results. Last I checked, it is possible to pass people during the race. A bad qualifying effort doesn't guarantee a bad finish. 12. I'm half expecting you to call me and everyone else who doubts her a sexist, chauvinistic pig who can't respect a woman trying to make it big in NASCAR, a male-dominated sport (I know I've seen that accusation thrown around elsewhere-like on Facebook, Youtube, and NASCAR.com-in her defense). Not true at all. I have nothing against Danica as a person; I have everything against the media hype she's generated. I have no problem with women in NASCAR or motorsports in general (I have a huge amount of respect for trailblazers like Janet Guthrie, for example). In fact I would genuinely love to see one make it big in NASCAR. I can totally dig it. But I just don't think Danica is going to be THAT driver. 4 years into her Cup career and she is still consistently hovering around 25th in points every year. I think she is a so-so driver who is simultaneously being overrated by media/fanboy types and underrated at the same time by some people who believe she's one of the-if not THE-worst drivers in the sport's entire history. As in many cases I think the answer is somewhere in the middle. A so-so driver good for a maybe a handful of top-10s a year, and not much more than that. Cannot see her winning a race outside a plate track or barring a Chris Buescher at Pocono-esque situation. That's my honest 2 cents on Danica Patrick currently. If it makes me a sexist in your or anyone else's books to not see her as the next big thing, well, I guess I'm just going to have to be a sexist to you then, because I haven't seen much that indicates things are going to drastically change for her... 443. That was just hard racing. I cheer for him on the road courses because They're teally his only chances to win and it's always good to see people run up front besides the normal drivers. But his negative attitude does get annoying. 451. This is Jamie McMurray's third top 10 finish in the last five races. -Tony Stewart gets his fifth top 5 finish in the last seven races (!!) after failing to finish in the top 5 all last season. The Smoke show is back. -This is Jimmie Johnson's FIRST last place Cup finish in 529 starts. In addition, this is his second 40th place run at Watkins Glen, his other came in 2004 after he won the pole and his engine expired. -Last week's winner Chris Buescher is now just three points behind 30th place David Ragan in the standings. -You guys remember Ryan Blaney? Oh, sorry, I forgot he was running this year. Has been completely invisible this year along with Ryan Newman, Danica Patrick (shocker, I know), Clint Bowyer, and Mr. Invisible himself, Paul Menard. -Boris Said's 24th place finish was his best Cup result since three years ago at this very race track. He came home 22nd. See you guys in two weeks at Bristol! 457. But she's going to have to have a lot more of these kinds of runs to make me impressed. "Agreed on the throwing in the towel part but not the dumping Larson part (I thought you don't like Larson?) That was just hard racing." I was on a road trip today, so I only saw the live finish of Hamlin winning (and Larson crashing in the background) on YouTube, so I'll take your word for it. That driver rating was inflated by her being off pit sequence and leading laps mid-race as a result. Not a whole lot of analysis is needed to understand that. Why do I always get the feeling that Danica-defenders never even watched racing until she hyped her way into the sport? 459. Mannoroth posted: 08.08.2016 - 12:42 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) 243. Obviously I didn't like him after the antics he pulled in 2014, but after Gordon went after him at Texas, I've noticed that he's mellowed out. In 2015, he really wasn't into any controversy, and then after spinning Truex he apologized immeadietly, something he probably wouldn't have done two years ago. The only controversy this year was the thing with Jeff Gordon at Pocono, but other than that he doesn't act like a punk like he used to. 467. He is talking temperature. The Glen can be either glamerious or miserable. Why do you think F1 stopped going? Not because of rain oh no, late September/early October is what ruined it. It can get cold and miserable during that time in the Northeast. It can windy too. Air temp at 50 degree and throw in about a 20mph wind and a bit of rain sitting in a metal stands for 3 hours? Yeah people would rather sit at home and watch. And Road America? Same thing can happen. NASCAR fans aren't hardcore enough too sit through that type of weather. Rain, heat and humidity is one thing. Add too regular season? Fine 1st round of the Chase? Fine After that your pushing it. NASCAR isn't going too put a RC on the schedule in October or November. That would be completely stupid. 473. chevyfan98 posted: 08.11.2016 - 2:43 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I don't see where in my comment I said (or even implied) anything about adding a road course into the chase.
