Then we had the David Ragan spin cycle. If that had been an NR03 league he would have been parked lol cool to see the 43 get a top 10 3. The redone Bristol is terrible, maybe in the offseason they can get it to the old Bristol. The drivers may love it, but the fans hate it. 4. Rusty posted: 08.26.2007 - 7:02 pm Rate this comment: (1) (3) The old Bristol was terrible, single file racing with a couple bumps isn't exciting, fans just like the old Bristol because half the field would crash. -Denny Hamlin's first DNF since Martinsville in 2006. -Kasey Kahne's first top 5 of 2007. -Jeff Burton ran a blank orange car due to the NASCAR-AT&T problems in court. 5. I saw something last night that hasn't happened in years... 2-3 wide racing at Bristol..cars taking the Gant line at the wall, and plenty of short track racing. There were still bumps and wrecks. Now, we have all that plus great racing. I see no problems. 7. DaleJrFan15 posted: 08.26.2007 - 8:40 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) No wonder NASCAR haters think its all about crashing. When a race that has a ton of crashes ends up only having a few, the fans are pissed, They dont care about 3 wide racing and really close action. This is sad, come on folks, dont let the haters win! I found this to be one of the best bristol races ever.(Judge me) Flips 4 Carl ^_^ 8. anon posted: 08.26.2007 - 9:18 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) It wasn't so bad - at least we had David Ragan's spin-a-minute for comic relief. I know he rarely goes a race without spinning at least once or twice, but he outdid himself yesterday (and he even had an "excuse"). 9. WillG46 posted: 08.27.2007 - 2:44 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Definitely the best Bristol race in the past 15 years. I don't see why the fans loved the old Bristol track. It was single file for 500 laps and half the laps would be under caution. Now we have 2-3 grooves and something that we haven't seen at Bristol for a long time - RACING! I was just plain sick of the old Bristol. I couldn't stand it since I hate watching caution laps. Figures that everyone would be ticked, shows how great all of Nascars new "fans" are. 10. But now you need to apologize for saying to me "screw you" a few races back. I was really just asking what you thought, seriously. Nothing hateful intended. I like Jr., and I'm hoping he can make the Chase. It's not as fun without him in it. 11. And I did apologize in the pocono comments. But Ill apologize again. I'm sorry :) and to be honest, I dont think he will make the chase now, All i want him to do is win this year now. 12. Zac posted: 08.27.2007 - 11:23 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) This Bristol surface is great and I'm not trashing it by any means, but it just seems like it lost its luster. I don't know... something was just "missing". Maybe it's just me. Old Bristol was a single lane track, and this new one is great to watch Trucks, Busch, and Cup race on, but it seems like something was lost. Again, I don't know. I hope I'm not the only one who feels this way. Anyways, congrats to Carl for having a dominate car. And even though I'm not a huge fan of the guy, I always enjoy seeing his flips after he wins. Awesome run for Kahne who needed it. Leading 305 laps will always make you feel better. And kudos to Bobby Labonte for running near the front most of the night after starting 22nd. That was awesome to see. :) 14. Andrew posted: 08.28.2007 - 2:24 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I think this was the best Bristol race I've ever seen. For those who felt the race was dull, I'd like to point out only 4 of the top 15 drivers started in the top 15. 15. WillG46 posted: 08.28.2007 - 3:01 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Yea Jr's chase hopes are little to none. But I can't say that he doesn't deserve to be up there. He was been a championship driver this year, always running top 5/10, but the engines haven't lasted and freak things like blown tires and crashes out of nowhere (Texas and Daytona 1 and 2)have put him behind. 16. DEIFan16 posted: 08.28.2007 - 4:42 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Well said Will :-/ Lets go through his horrible luck this year: Daytona 500: Had a good car, didnt lead but still had at least a top ten in the bag, then he got into a wreck with 5 to go (7 with the GWC) Auto Club 500: Had a great starting position, but had engine woes. UAW Daimler Chrysler 400: Not really bad luck, but a bad call for pitting with a handful to go while running 3rd or 4th. Samsung 500: Had an amazing car all race but mysteriously got caught up in a wreck with less than 100 to go. Subway Fresh 500k: Had a good run but ended up getting trapped a lap down by short pitting when a caution came out. Autism Speaks 400 presented by Visa: Had a top ten car until he blew a tire. Toyota/Save Mart 350: Pitted while near the front hoping that others wouldnt make it on fuel or a caution so others would pit. Most made it, and the caution never came :( Pepsi 400: Caught in wreck again caused by Stewart. USG Sheetrock 400: Was in 3rd on a restart late when he lost power steering. Allstate 400 at the Brickyard: Had an awesome car when he blew his engine. Centuron Boats at the Glen: Had a great car all race when once again he blew his engine. Imagine without all those unlucky races, hed probably be up in the top 10 or might I say it, top 5. All he needs this year is to win. And he has a lot of races that he finishes well at to do that ( California, Richmond, Dover, Tally, Lowes, Martinsville, Atlanta and Phoenix.) 17. The No. 6 car is in the wall!" "Caution! The No. 6 car has crashed!" "Caution! The No. 6 car didn't get that last joke!" 20. I'm glad to see Bristol not selling out races. I like to watch Martinsville now over Bristol. 25. Eric posted: 07.31.2016 - 12:09 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) Anthony, What you said isn't true despite the fact it was a blunder to race fans and the track hasn't recovered yet. The beginning signs of the decline were before Bruton Smith missing with Bristol. What you mentioned was the 2nd the 3 SMI missteps did. The first SMI misstep was Humpy Wheeler levigating Charlotte Motor Speedway. Labor Day weekend 2004 was one of the early signs of the decline. NASCAR wanted to start a new Labor Day Weekend Tradition back in 2004 by having a Auto Club Race on that weekend instead of the Southern 500 with the race being in a bigger market. When Auto club Speedway got its 2nd date, the place couldn't sell out any of its 2 races in a season even after they stopped racing on Labor Day weekend. I am bringing this up because even the ESPN racing media online said last year that NASCAR Screwed up on switching the Southern 500 day and it took them several years to admit that they made a mistake. 33. Anthony posted: 08.09.2016 - 4:58 am Rate this comment: (0) (1) Putting the Labor Day race at Auto Club was one of the worst decisions NASCAR has ever made 35. Evan posted: 08.09.2016 - 9:48 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Carl Edwards car that he used to win this race with had some interesting significance, it was sold to Yates Racing after year was over and was used by Travis Kvapil at Bristol and Darlington and they slapped a 28 on the side and put 11 million to signify the Ford owners across the nation, and it was the car that had that Fred Lorenzen tribute scheme on the side of it at Darlington in 2008. Kvapil finished 8th at Darlington that year, so it was pretty good, versatile race car. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
