The car's whole trunk area was gone and caught fire. Luckly it was on his second lap and he was ok. The first lap was good enough to get him into the race. 7. brandon posted: 01.04.2008 - 5:39 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) this was also the race where Shawna Robinson sent Dale Jr. into the turn 1 wall on a restart drawing the ire of the Earnhardt nation 8. He coasted around to the pits and as he was trying to get out of his pit, Jeff Gordon came in and overshot his pit, forcing Jarrett to back up. 10. Green was caught one lap down (all the other leaders pitted under caution) and dropped down to 16th place finish. 12. Kenseth also started from the rear after changing engines. Dale Jarrett was the best car of the day, but ran out of gas while leading on a long green flag run. After coasting to the pits, Jarrett was then blocked in by Gordon in the pits, then Gordon backed up due to overshooting his pits, pinning Jarrett in again. This cost Jarrett two laps. After Jarrett's troubles, Rusty Wallace was the best car, but tire strategy not to Rusty's liking affected the handling of the car and trapped him back in traffic. Ricky Rudd also had a good run, leading early and finishing fourth, his second top five in a row, despite suffering accelerator problems during one run. Also of note, Ward Burton, Dale Earnhardt, Jr., and Robby Gordon experienced hard crashes. Burton and Gordon's wrecks were due to tire failures, whereas Earnhardt spun after contact with the lapped car of Shawna Robinson, who was running about half a lane up instead of on the white line. Earnhardt briefly returned to the track before engine failure ended his day. Also, Jeff Burton is credited with going out with a crash, despite not bringing out a caution. This is because Burton pancaked the wall, causing extensive damage to the #99 car that resulted in multiple trips to the garage before the damage ended his day. The caution for fluid from Ryan Newman's engines came out just a couple laps later. 16. 2002 Sponsor Updates posted: 08.30.2015 - 6:55 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Sponsor updates: #26 Advance Auto Parts/Pork #55 Schneider Electric/Square D #36 Combos #10 RadioShack/MLB Opening Day (RadioShack is one word) #4 Kodak MAX Film #44 Georgia-Pacific/Brawny #45 Sprint PCS #43 Cheerios/Betty Crocker #41 Target/Energizer 17.
