Destroyahirismix666 posted: 08.14.2010 - 3:40 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Well, from the angel that we can see on battilionfan888 's video on Youtube, we do see Hut strlcklin rear end landing on Petty's 43, and then it slid, However, i can't find any roof damage, and when i watched the race, i still couldn't find any evidence that he flipped. My best guess, the car spun into the infield, got slightly airborne, like about 10 degrees or so, then landed on the 43 STP dodge. Still, Wikipedia says that Stricklin 'rolled' over Petty, at least, that's what it said last time i checked. 14. Smiff_99 posted: 08.26.2010 - 2:26 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Yeah, their tires collided and when they did Stricklin kind of rolled up and over Petty's left front corner. 15. I can't find any other reason on how he end up on top of him. 16. autryvilleracefan posted: 05.04.2011 - 1:25 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Larry Pearson was fortunate not to get hurt in this race. His Buick hit the wall nearly head-on and then got cut across the front by Derrike Cope. 17. 83andJoe posted: 07.06.2013 - 4:54 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) #57 crew chief: Donnie Allison (same through Miller High Life 500 at Pocono) 18. My brother and I came to the race and bought 2 grandstand seat about 1000 yard past the Finish line. I watch Bobby Car come around and lift up. We saw Earndhardt on the inside of him and though he clipped him. Next thing is Miller on the rear of his car in the catch fence. We just stood there as his car 360 on the track till another car hit him. We just knew he was hurt but got out the car to the cheers of the entire grandstand. We had a 3 hour wait. Red flag watching the repair this fence. Oh this was before cell phone for you younger generation. We ran out of Beer and KFC chicken , luckly a lady beside us had a cooler full her hubby had passed out so she gave us his beer. I still have pics of Bobbby getting out of car and them putting what was left of 22 on the flatbed. You will notice the stats this race was only 178 laps, Nascar shortened the race by 10 laps because of impending darkness. We were listening to MRN which announced it. #28 Davey had led most of the laps after the Big One. This was his first win as a Rookie and the stands went wild when he won. Davey was the first rookie to win 2 races in a rookie season. We no longer have a Alabama Gang. Nascar is a shell of its older self. But 22 and 28 are the still the pride of Bama... 21. Their first outing didn't end well, as stated above he sent off the big one, but it would prove to be a winning combination further down the road. 25. mtblillie posted: 12.22.2017 - 7:03 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I'm pretty sure Rudd was in a Buick LeSabre again in this race, but I could be confusing it with another race. 26. NEPAracefan posted: 04.22.2020 - 12:01 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) JT I've watched this race numerous times over the years and I never realized there were no Monte Carlos. The fact that EVERY Chevy team was able to have a superspeedway ready Lumina ready to roll for its debut is shocking given the time period. An elite team like Melling Racing (Bill Elliott) still ran a '88 T-Bird at the spring Bristol race and Sears Point because the team didn't have a competent redesigned '89 version for those races. How many cars did most of the top teams have then? 3-5? This is the time period i really remember watching and starting to understand as a kid. Born in '82.... 29.
