I take it George Seeger's crash caused the race to be ended early. Does
anyone know what happened?

Snagged this anecdote from the free transcription of a 1957 newspaper
article:

"The race was cut short when George Seeger of Torrance spun into the
fence coming into the southeast turn and ripped out about 30 ft. of the
10-foot high barrier. Seeger was uninjured and finished in second place
with 147 complete laps to his credit."

I'm guessing they just said the guy in 2nd 6 laps behind the leader just
took out the fence lets go home.

I found a note on Ultimate Racing History that the race may have been
scheduled for 160 laps and not 200. Regardless, there was no catching
Lloyd Dane unless he had some sort of mechanical issue.
