NASCAR's Grand National/Winston Cup/Sprint Cup series would not return
to the state of Kentucky for 57 years until the series' first race at
the Kentucky Speedway in 2011.

Bub King, a local racer, helped to get this race added to the schedule.
The race was decided on a last lap pass as Lee Petty got past Hershel
McGriff to win.
