Al Unser Jr wins the race and comes from fourth in the points to top his
father, Cale Yarborough and Bill Elliott to win the title. The top-7 in
points (adding Darrell Waltrip, Harry Gant and Bobby Rahal) were all
within range to win the championship when the day began.

Al Unser looked to be dominant, but crashed in the last turn coming down
to complete lap 16, then after repairs lost it in the Esses and was
forced to park.

Ken Squier and Chris Economaki were the commentators. Ned Jarrett was
the sole pit road reporter.
