Brothers Kyle and Kevin Donahue, ARCA drivers Josh Reeves and Josh White, Justin Fontaine (Chris' cousin) and Harrison Burton. Donnie Levister, Kyle Soper and Brad Foy all failed to qualify while attempting their debuts. It's a shame for Foy who actually had some pretty decent speed in a Jennifer Jo Cobb truck. Came close to qualifying. 7. We need more Onion posted: 10.29.2016 - 1:05 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Great run by Kyle Donahue. Sean posted: 10.29.2016 - 3:26 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) Don't blame Waltrip or Pistone for being forced to agree with everything NASCAR says. You don't know that they actually do. NASCAR would fire any reporter who did not agree with their new rule changes on air at this point (or in print on a site they own), like when Matt McLaughlin was fired from racingone.com shortly after it was bought by MRN for criticizing the chase and many other of Brian France's decisions in 2004. Nobody at this point would be allowed to even have those positions in the announcer's booth or writing for MRN with their affiliation with NASCAR and criticize the decision. Michael Waltrip and Pete Pistone may be (are) annoying but place the blame on where it belongs: NASCAR itself. Nobody who is in their positions now would be allowed to criticize their decisions. 60. BMan0213 posted: 10.29.2016 - 3:27 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Not surprised Chase didn't move Sauter. His incidence with Ty up in Canada is an outlier and for the most part he always takes the high road. I also think that it didn't help maters that the guy he would have had to move was Sauter. Even if Chase just bumped him up and drove by Johnny probably would have flipped his lid and tried to fight him after the race, and who would really want to deal with that. 61. He passed nobody all day. That doesn't change the fact that I still think he's the next first time winner in Cup. He's running too well not to be unless there's some Chris Buescher-esque fluke coming. Besides, I kind of doubt even Bill Elliott, who only won 2 Cup short track races in his career, would have been any more of a sure thing to win a minor league short track race. Sauter probably IS a better short track driver than Elliott, considering his past ASA dominance. 66. But yes, Rico still doesn't know what he's doing on pavement (and/or in stock cars period) really, and Rhodes has gone from looking like a sure fire Cup star in his East days to being a "Who will he wreck this week?" punchline in Trucks. Hayley has at least shown glimpses of potential this year -- his avg. finish has been 12.8, while Sauter's was 13.8 when he last drove the #13 in 2012. Thought he had a chance to win at Pocono and Iowa earlier this year. He's also only 19, so he's will got plenty of time to show us what he's got. Abreu... I thought was risky from the get-go. He hasn't shown me much so far and it was a mistake to get rid of Sauter for him. Only 2 top-fives all year, one being a crapshoot (Talladega), the other at Eldora. Maybe Rhodes will get his crap together, but I honestly didn't think he was that great either; for whatever reason, I always got a Casey Atwood-vibe from him. I'd love to be proven wrong though. 73. Whenever I look back on race result pages and see sponsors I would never have thought of, its usually Nascar Lead Lap Points who searched the web, dug for information, and got the info. The owners is the same thing. The #71 team was absolutely JR Motorsports. The only thing about it that was Contreras was the number slapped on the sides...so...it really is #71-JR Motorsports. I would bet nobody from the Contreras team actually even showed up at the race track this weekend. Its nice to be able to look at the results and know who actually provided the equipment that certain driver ran. Which also would keep the owners pages correct as well. Norm Benning would never drive for Mike Mittler. Timothy Viens would never drive for BrandonBilt. And Chase Eliott would never drive for Contreras, even if offered a million bucks. 96. oldschoolracing519 posted: 10.30.2016 - 10:23 am Rate this comment: (1) (2) watch the race, you will hear them say all about how it worked. the #71 is owned by Carlos Contreras no matter how either of you 2 want to say it, he is the owner not JRM, I will say yes the truck was from JRM shop, but you will hear they never once said that the 00 and 71 were team mates they only mentioned how they came from the same shop that is all they said on the matter. It does happen in racing a owner can have somebody else build a car/truck and race it and they get all the credit for the team. However the Official record list the entry is how the record should be here by listing it any other way is listing incorrect information 97. And just because some website like this one might occasionally incorporate your comments doesn't make the data "correct" and sure as hell doesn't make it official. If NASCAR says a car is running on the last lap even though it's parked against a wall, that's official. If they say Carlos Contreras owns a truck even though he may never have set eyes on it, that's official. If a sponsor is listed in the results, that's official even if you need a magnifying glass to spot it, (same with a sponsor NOT being listed). If they say some car was not involved in a caution despite it being mangled up when the prior lap it was in perfect condition, that's official. What is official may not match your definition or my definition of what is "correct" but they are NASCAR and you are just some irrelevant pissant on the internet, so guess who wins? 100. And I saw the same thing as Nascar Lead Lap Points pointed out. They were teammates. They were both JR Motorsports trucks, plain and simple. And whether this site wants to ever adjust the owners for that (or not) is absolutely fine. I just hope NASCAR Lead Lap Points will continue to post with the real sponsors and the real owners on the comment sections so people down the line will know that in this race the #71 was really prepared and fielded by JR Motorsports, that Bolen Motorsports had nothing to do with the #66 this weekend, and that Jennifer Jo Cobb Racing actually prepared and sent two trucks to Martinsville. 102. The truck was owned by JR Motorsports... but the LISTED car owner for the sake of OWNER POINTS... is Carlos Contreras 103. chevyfan98 posted: 10.30.2016 - 12:17 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) If a car crashes on the last lap and the race ends under caution and the car doesn't finish, that is a DNF. If a driver drives for a certain team but uses another team's owner points, the owner is the team that prepared the car/truck, regardless of what NASCAR's results say. NASCAR's results can be wrong. This stuff is why this website is normally much more trustworthy than places like NASCAR.com and Jayski, and I have a lot of respect for people like NLLP for nearly always having the correct information. Its the folks that think NASCAR's results can do no wrong that are the ones spreading the misinformation. 104. JRM prepared the truck, but just by looking at Twitter, JRM didn't post any updates on Elliott throughout the weekend, or even acknowledge the 71 as part of their stable. A look through Carlos' twitter shows the same. 105. nascarman posted: 10.30.2016 - 12:33 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) That definitely wasnt a JR Motorsports truck. JR Motorsports never acknowledged it on Twitter, Hendrick Motorsports was tweeting updates during the race. Hendrick prepared the truck, JR never had anything to do with it. I still say its a Conteras truck, but for everyone saying JR motorsports prepared it, they didnt, it was Hendrick Motorsports. 106. It got even better when his father Jeff, cousin Jeb and uncle Ward sat in the stands directly behind us for the race. Was really neat to watch the range of Jeff's emotions as they watched Harrison make his NASCAR debut. Unrelated but Blake Koch was also in the stands a few rows higher up with his son. Was a REALLY nice guy and let us take photos with him. Wish I could post pics here and show the ones I was able to get of the Burtons during this race 119.
