At least NASCAR didn't throw a debris caution at the end. 36. rm posted: 09.24.2016 - 3:44 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Byron was very dominant in clean air today, though he lost a lot of ground in lapped traffic at multiple points during the day, including the last few laps when it mattered. Austin Wayne Self's crash was very unusual, it appeared something went wrong with the motor and he then slammed into the Turn 1 wall. He very briefly rode the wall with 2 wheels before coming to a rest. Caleb Roark had another unusual crash on the first lap. It was unclear if he made a late break to pit road in an attempt to park the truck or if he had a right front down, but he slowly spun into the sand barrels at the entrance to pit road. That resulted in a lengthy yellow flag to clean that up. Daniel Hemric had a left rear tire go down, resulting in a spin and a caution flag. The remnants of the tire caught on fire but the flames persisted after he changed 4 tires. This resulted in a brake issue which put Hemric in the garage. He went back out there before eventually pulling it in with 10 to go and no positions left to gain, putting him in a huge hole in the first ever Truck series Chase. 37. Lots of great racing thoughout the field, and they showed a lot of that on tv for once. Ben Rhodes, Timothy Peters and Johnny Sauter especially seemed to be the most entertaining to watch midpack - I wasn't surprised that Rhodes eventually wrecked, I just didn't think it would take until the last lap. All in all, another great Truck race. Hopefully with multiple drivers moving up, some equally entertaining replacements move up to replace them. Also, I'd love to see Brendan Gaughan back in the truck series, mixing it up with the other veterans like Sauter and Crafton and Peters. I understand though he's pretty happy in his place in the Xfinity series. 50. It's nice to see a legitimate level of competition in this series that had been lacking in the lower divisions since the turn of the decade (longer for NXS). Hopefully the field will return at least as deep next season so we can keep this positive momentum going. I'll be sad if it goes back to a "Bryan Silas finishing 10th in points in a totally-uncompetitive ride"-type situation. With that said, a 12-driver Xfinity chase is idiotic because that's exactly what has happened--the field is so shallow that there was no competition at all for Chase spots except between guys in lower-budget rides that don't belong competing for the title anyway. 8 drivers would have been so much better for the Xfinity Series. Hopefully next year with the impending influx of truck talent the overall field depth of this series will finally see improvement. 40 car races where 10 cars are good, 8 are decent, you have a few Siegs and Clements and JD Motorsports cars that fare well for their funding, but the last 15 cars in the field are absolute jokes. There has to be something that can be done, because that series' entertainment value has reached an all-time low. 54. FrontRowMotorsportsFan posted: 09.24.2016 - 7:32 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) 54 - Agreed. I've enjoyed the level of competition in Trucks. The top 15 in points (plus Truex & Kligerman there) have had decent chances to win races all at some point in the season. Which I've enjoyed. Xfinity does need a lot of work to be done, whether it's more standalones, getting rid of the tapered spacer, limiting Cup guys, but the balance of competitive teams is pretty bad at times. 55. 42KylePetty42 posted: 09.24.2016 - 9:12 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Just watching this race on DVR.. Once again NASCAR proved they are dumb moth__ f___ers up in the booth calling shots, putting caution out on final lap. Keep doing it.. and attendance will continue to fall. I've gone every race since 1991, No way I'm buying tickets for Talladega in few weeks. I know NASCAR will find a way to ruin the finish, not let the race finish at the line. 56. I'm sure you would love to see BKR win, don't you? Bad luck. Maybe next time. 10. Just like people believed Kyle Busch won't start at Chicagoland, when he was out of practices just because of Chase media obligations. Jayski just can't be wrong, huh? 15. Yep, people just can't handle the fact one car figures it all out the best in one race. When it's that fast, he's cheating. Just like Martin Truex Jr. at Charlotte or Kyle Busch at Indianapolis, right? Only one difference, their cars were completely legal. 17. It's not even 2 years ago when Toyota really struggled and Chevy and Ford were on the top. And you have enough just after this short period of time and want to ban their factory support just because they're class of the field? Where were you, when Chevy was winning almost everything? Silently or not, enjoying their domination, I bet... 23. Once again, when there are no Cup drivers in the field, people just don't care, because there is nothing to complain about. And these same people want Cup drivers out of lower series races, but don't watch the races without them. A seriously? From start to finish, there are only 30 comments. I don't know what is the record, but this is seriously really low number. 57. Maverick posted: 09.25.2016 - 1:12 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) @56 1.
