Will posted: 09.16.2016 - 6:30 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Spencer Gallagher is on the pole (!), the Greatest Driver Of All Time is only starting 8th, so you might be able to enjoy the first lap and a half before flipping to another channel. That's what I plan to do. Also, Cole Custer & JHN start next to each other in row 9. :-) 3. rm posted: 09.16.2016 - 6:37 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Spencer Gallagher shows some speed and wins his first career pole. JWT records his 4th front row start of the year - now if only he could turn that into some solid finishes. And oh yeah, don't forget the "fight" - being generous with the terminology here - that the two had earlier this season at Gateway. Daniel Suarez, Kyle Busch and Josh Berry notably make appearances in the field. Even if supposed public enemy number one, Busch, is racing, the trucks always put on a great show and this race should be no different. 1st and 23rd qualified less than a second apart, and some competitive drivers like Cole Custer, John Hunter Nemechek and Cameron Hayley start in the back half of the field. And Custer and JHN start on the same row too, just two weeks after John Hunter edged Custer in a highly controversial finish at Mosport. So, #1 and #2, I feel the complete opposite - tonight's race should be entertaining and I'll definitely be tuning in. Kyle's only making his 4th truck start of the year. He did well in his first two starts, notably winning at Martinsville, but he crashed out at Kentucky. If this was an Xfinity race I might feel differently though. 4. 02Justin10 posted: 09.16.2016 - 6:41 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Bold Prediction: Tonight's truck race in Chicagoland sets a new record for cautions. (7, twice, is the current record.) This race tonight should be pretty decent. The top 27 qualifiers all qualified within 1.5 seconds of the pole. And most of the top half of the field appear to be almost even on pace. Track position should be very important. 5. RaceFanX posted: 09.16.2016 - 8:00 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The Truck series' first-ever Chase lineup will be set by the results of this race. Only eight drivers get in and six come into it with wins. Daniel Hemric and Timothy Peters hold the last two spots on points so will they make it in or will a new driver, like Cole Custer, win to bump them out. 6. My bad, I saw Custer had 33 points for 2nd (but he led the most laps) last week, so I didn't take that into account. So I don't think that comment is entirely warranted, because the regulars have had plenty of opportunities to win. In fact, 6 of them did, and only 2 spots had to be filled by points. Your comment is spot on for Xfinity though, where we've only had 3 of 12 drivers win, mostly due to Cup drivers. Yikes. 143. Besides, I'm sure Kyle Busch would love to surpass Ron Hornaday to also become the winningest driver in the Truck series also. He is 5 wins away now, but don't be surprised if he tries to get it out of the way next season before NASCAR decide to limit Cup drivers in the near future. At least he's appreciative of letting young guns drive his trucks for him. Otherwise I don't really think he has much interest in racing in Truck anymore. Especially considering he finally won at his last winless track at Martinsville earlier this year. Same with Xfinity, I think Kyle will ease down on the Xfinity racing once he reaches 100 wins. From there he can easily hit win #200 across all NASCAR series for his personal goal at the Cup level, since he won't be that far off. 144. No point in continually complaining about the excessive wins by Cup drivers in lower series when I already know NASCAR won't do a damn thing about it because *gasp* a lot of sponsors would throw a fit and up and leave the sport if they did. Hemric would be a good pick too, I think he'll win before the year is out. This Chase is interesting because all 8 have a legitimate chance to win. Ben Kennedy is probably the weakest link in there, and he's been good. Peters quietly could sneak into Homestead. He's very good at Talladega, Texas and Phoenix. 192. The only way I see that happening is if Cole Custer takes him out. 194. It just kind of feels like he's gonna come up short unless he wins like three or four more races (which is certainly possible, but I just don't see it happening). Screw it, I'll take Hemric too. He's quietly been the most consistent driver all season, and as we've seen in the Cup elimination format, you have to be extremely consistent and minimize mistakes from race to race. - Champion: Daniel Hemric (and I do think he'll win at least once) - 2nd: William Byron (comes up short) - 3rd: Johnny Sauter (points races his way through, maybe wins another race) - 4th: Christopher Bell (gets another win or two just based on speed) - 5th: Matt Crafton - 6th: John Hunter Nemechek - 7th: Ben Kennedy - 8th: Timothy Peters 196. chevyfan98 posted: 09.17.2016 - 7:03 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) This one will definitely be more exciting than the Xfinity chase.
