Great qualifying efforts by Mike Bliss (17th), Jordan Anderson (23rd),
and Jennifer Jo Cobb (28th, found over a full second from practice.)

If you're driving a TRD powered Toyota and you get out-qualified by
Jennifer Jo Cobb and Norm Benning, then maybe you don't have much of a
future.

And poor Benning. Now Norm has missed 7 of the last 8 truck races and
will still sit with 0 owner points for the 2016 season.

If you mean Abreu, his truck had a problem in qualifying. If you're
talking about Austin Wayne Self no idea what happened there.

Dear Braindead Zombie,

I was only talking about that Self kid. He was in the bottom 5 in all
three practices yesterday and obviously was not quick again today in
qualifying. I am aware of Abreu and Truex's situations. But Self, they
shouldn't be that slow all weekend. Don't you think too?

underrated. Remember how he ran in the 11 for CJM in 2009? Should've won

#12. Agreed. I've been saying that since the late 80's when Nascar
started with that provisional crap just to keep Richard Petty in races.

Yea norm isn't gonna make it but I do believe he'll be in the race at
Dover I predict a short field there.

As for Wayne self idk it is a family team there just getting there feet
wet in the truck series. Also happy to see mike bliss back in the truck
series just wish he and Kvapil had better rides so they could teach some
of those young guys a lesson.

John Wes Townley-NASCAR race winner, and pole-sitter now as well.

If you told me about 6 years ago that this was going to happen I
probably would've asked you to have your head examined. Say what you
will about Townley and the length of time it took him to become decent
(that other drivers admittedly would not have gotten without money), but
at the very least, I think he's found a good niche for himself here in
the Truck Series.

I agree. I think he's probably going to become a career truck series
driver which honestly the series needs more of right now. The only ones
left right now are Crafton, Peters, Sauter, and a few of the backmarkers
like Benning and Jennifer Jo Cobb.

They aren't kidding when they say there's a lot of young talent packed
into the Truck fields this year. It's gonna be interesting to see who in
the series this year actually makes it to Cup and who doesn't...

Man, I actually remember that race where Joe Nemechek won the Cup race
at Kansas-which they just showed a photo of, complete with a young John
Hunter in victory lane in his Dad. Now he's a multi-time Truck Series
winner and likely to be a future Cup superstar (as some people have said
before, I wouldn't be surprised if Hendrick or some other big team gets
their hands on in the near future). My, how time passes...

You know... at this point I've stopped caring about the what would've
happened without the caution clock. I mean this is only like the fifth
illegitimite caution... there probably would've been another one by this
point anyway, so I'll stop complaining now and enjoy the fact that this

Anderson's #66 Chevy came to a stop under yellow. Pit stops are delayed
another lap as Anderson's truck is getting a push in.

Cameron Hayley, running in the top-10, has run out of gas under yellow
because of the pit delays. Bummer.

Travis Kvapil is so low on gas he pits and takes the penalty. He's
sponsored by gas station app GasBuddy so needless to say he doesn't want
to run out.

They are now opening the pits despite the Custer's #00, Pierce's #63, a
wrecker somewhat blocking the pits.

Erik Jones utterly dominated, but did not win, this race with last year.

We used to do a Joker lap sometimes in my old go-kart racing league. It
would be where on one lap you had to drive through the pit lane (which
was on the outside of the track, like at Sonoma) on any lap during the
race.

Sounds like it was just a typical racing deal. Can't really get too

lmao. Even if I don't always empathize with Sauter in these situations,
I'll never not be entertained by his post-incident interviews. The way

Late models and stock cars are two different things, though. I get the
equipment advantage, but he absolutely obliterated his East Series
competition in 2014, more so than Larson or Kwasniewski did in the years
before. And he's been pretty damn good this year as well against
superior competition.

Ok, I had to miss this race, and it looks like I missed a lot.

Steve Turner died? RIP.

It looks like Blaney had a bad crash as well.

Anyways, for the actual race...when you take a track like Kansas that
has been a minefield for the past few years, and combine it with the
caution clock, you get a wreckfest on a minefield.

I haven't seen what happened for the finish yet, but it it's the last
lap. You're going for the win. Therefore, it's not unusual to see
divebombs to try to win it all. I feel bad for Sauter though. Ever since
Daytona it's all been downhill since.

Well, it looks like this was yet another successful Truck race, despite
the caution clock once again. And congrats to Byron and KBM, they needed
this after how their season began.

And once again, as Jolly Mean Giant will attest to, Ben Rhodes is listed
as "running" at the conclusion of this race, even though he wrecked on
the final lap and didn't complete it, keeping him at 169 laps out of
170. It's another example of NASCAR listing drivers that crash on the
final lap, or near it, as running. This will no doubt confuse fans for
years to come.

Without trying to be too much of a Debbie-downer, but KBM's trucks are
beginning to be like Venturini's ARCA cars: anybody can win in them, and
at least in ARCA it is to the point where winning in those cars is no
longer an indicator of talent as it was thought to be 10 years ago.

Very glad Sauter didn't get the win...he has turned way to much into a
jerk these last several years for me to support him.

And its laughable he threw all the blame on Poole for the last
incident...he chopped down on him going into the turn..he has just as
much fault as Poole for that crash.

I smiled when I saw him spin, and very happy Byron got the win.

Sauter did come down a bit there but I think he was just running his
line and didn't expect Rhodes to make such a dumb move. Like I get he
was trying to get his first win but the best case scenario for him after
he drove it in deep was he cleared Sauter then ended up in the wall like
Carl did in 08. Either way that move wasn't gonna win him the race and
now on top of it he has one of the most short fused hot tempered guy in
the sport pissed off at him...

Actually, there should be more than 32 trucks at Dover. We have 33 full
time trucks and Brat Keselowski is entering the #2 truck the next two
weeks. So there will at least be 34 trucks on site, so Norm will have to
qualify in 27th or he will DNQ again.

Brandon Jones is in the 71 this weekend as part of a collaborative
effort between Contreras and Ranier Racing. It is a Contreras owned
truck, and Carlos and Tim Andrews have done most of the prep work on it,
so it'll be interesting to see how Jones does.

There's a heck of a lot of competition this year. Looking at the Dover
entry list, the only trucks incapable of contending are the MAKE trucks,
JJC, Norm Benning, the Mittlers, Jordan Anderson, and Bobby Dotter's
truck. The other 27 trucks are more than capable of contending with a
good driver behind the wheel.

Of course, there are a couple exceptions, such as Tommy Joe Martins,
who, despite mid pack equipment capable of qualifying well and running
toward the front, suffer from a crappy driver.

The fact that NEMCO, RBR, Hattori, and Tyler Young's and Brandon Brown's
teams are all running so well indicates to me that equipment isn't as
much of a barrier in trucks, and that there is no excuse for being slow
everywhere.

Despite the caution clock, truck races have been a lot of fun this year.
