That made it a little easier for Crafton to fight his way from the back, but it was still an impressive drive for the series champ. Major congrats to Cole Custer for becoming the youngest driver ever to win a race in ANY NASCAR touring series! And a great call from his c.c. to take 4 tires even though it cost track position at the time. Take note France-Helton and you other morons who run this sport (into the ground, mostly): the racing in the CWTS and NNS is infinitely better when the "big kids" don't show up and turn it into a snooze-fest. You're good at making rules, now make one to SEVERELY limit Cup drivers stinking up the lower series. This stupid crap about not being able to run for points hasn't accomplished a damn thing. Looking forward to tonight's non-stunk-up, non-snoozefest at Kentucky. Thank you, Cup guys, for staying in New Hampshire. 31. No clue why everyone makes such a big deal about this. Great win for Custer, though I was obviously rooting for Bubba. Both will be future stars. Sort of insane that Crafton has so few wins in the series but is racing for his second straight championship. 41. Anonymous posted: 09.20.2014 - 4:19 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) As someone who bashes nascar every week, I have to admit it was good seeing no cups guys in this. I didn't catch the whole race but the parts I saw were good. Eliminating cup drivers from nns and trucks wouldn't fix all the issues but it would be a great start. And for those complaining about S&P and field sizes, it's not a big deal. Other series put on amazing races with less than 30 cars. We're just so used to seeing full fields every race but it's not really an issue if the overall product is good. 42. joey2448 posted: 09.20.2014 - 4:50 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) "I just saw the finish of the race. Was the outside lane the way to go for restarts or did Crafton make the wrong decision?" Crafton said he missed a gear shift from third to fourth gear, so that knocked him back two spots on the restart, from the lead to third. Man I want Ryan Blaney to win this championship, but he got spun out by Timothy Peters late in the race and ended up 10th, while his main two competitors in the points finished third and fourth. Good job for John Hunter to nab a top-five at the end there! 43. David posted: 09.20.2014 - 4:56 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) Cole Custer wins his first Truck race at the seasoned age of 16. They should run companion weekends with ARCA and be at tracks like Mobile, Toledo, Salem, Lucas Oil Raceway..among others. Trucks are awesome on short tracks! 46. To watch the green flag pitstops and to see who was gaining more ground later into a long run was very intriguing. I echo other thoughts here, not seeing any Cuppers in this race to have a good time was refreshing and made the race more enjoyable (and of course competitive). Congrats to Cole Custer on pulling out the victory today, and congrats to Gray Gaulding for finishing 16th! (That's where he belongs anyway.) The short fields and start and parks don't bother me at all. And I've been surprised to see this be of extra interest and concern to other posters. I mean, 14-car late model races I go to see at South Boston are just as good races, even with a smaller car count. Now I'll excited for next weeks' event at Las Vegas...there shouldn't be any Cup drivers in that event as well. The only other thing I felt like noting was that when the Fox Sports 1 telecast went off, the graphic and Steve Byrnes said that next week's race is on FS1 at 10pm eastern. Which seems to me to be a later start time than usual. If I recall correctly (and if anyone thinks I'm wrong, go ahead and point it out.) usually the set-up show would be on at 8:30pm eastern, with green flag after 9pm (6pm LasVegas time). But next week, they are not starting until 10pm eastern, 7pm local. I guess FS1 will have some all important baseball or college football game on before the race, which will probably run over into the race time slow. But oh well...that FoxSports with racing for you. 48. TS1420 posted: 09.20.2014 - 7:28 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Congrats to Cole Custer & Haas Racing on the win. I went to msn.com and saw about Custer. I came here to say what people might say about me. It's rookie champs that's pie in the sky, not race wins. I know what I'm about to reference is Cup, but the day I saw a rookie Daytona 500 winner was the day I lost my capacity to call rookie race wins pie in the sky. I've never hated that race. I could only say "He can't drink!" after I saw that on our local FOX station. How's this for ya, David? 51. joey2448 posted: 09.21.2014 - 5:43 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) "In other news, racefangurl looked up and saw a coconut cream pie floating among the clouds." HA!!! 52.
