Me too, although remember that for tracks 1 mile or longer (including texas) you need the new truck body and it's possible those teams don't have many extras. And I actually just found out that the Mittler team is not at the track, Jennings is driving a backup s&p truck for Tyler Young just withe #63 and Mike Mittler listed as owner for owner points. 5. Here's a check for $1,040, go buy one spare set of tires and roll off the backup so we can have a full field". ...of course, come to think of it, the "you must have a pit crew" rule that was introduced after James Finch's stunt with Joe Ruttman at Rockingham back in '04 probably has something to do with that. 9. epzik8 posted: 06.06.2014 - 8:52 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Don't normally watch pre-races but this one is okay. 10. evan posted: 06.06.2014 - 8:53 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) HAHAAHHAHAA 11. ARCA has had a similar problem recently, even with televised superspeedway races. Even with the assigned pit crew requirement, I can't see why some of these teams didn't recruit volunteers (some Cup teams did this until the late 80s when they raced out west at Riverside, Ontario, and later Phoenix) as pit crews for spare trucks that would be parked after a lap or two. Some fans could at least get the thrill of being named as a NASCAR pit crew member. 75. 23andJoe posted: 06.07.2014 - 4:11 pm Rate this comment: (0) (2) I do find it amusing that Crafton pretty much stomped the field in exactly the same fashion Kyle Busch always does - and yet there aren't any complaints about that... 76. The newly redesigned bodies will now match the look of their respective showroom counterparts. Today's introduction of the new truck bodies follows successful launches of race vehicles in NASCAR's other two national series - the Gen-6 car last year in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and the new models in the NASCAR Nationwide Series in 2010. "Each manufacturer has designed distinctly different trucks that they can use to promote their showroom models through their involvement with NASCAR racing," said Robin Pemberton, NASCAR vice president of competition and racing development. "We have worked closely with all three manufacturers for the past several years, and we're excited to unveil a new truck body that will make one of NASCAR's most exciting series even better." Extensive research and testing went into the development of the new bodies, with the goal of continued close competition while allowing specific features from each model. The new trucks have a unique design that will make it easier for fans to recognize their favorite model. "The truck has a new look that fans can relate to with their own truck at home," said Chad Little, NASCAR Camping World Truck Series managing director. "The competitors have been happy with the new trucks in testing in January and we expect to continue to have some of the best racing in NASCAR for our fans at Daytona."(NASCAR)(2-19-2014) So basically NASCAR just wanted the trucks to look more like what you would find everyday on the street or in the showrooms, with hint of hope that it would increase competition and excitement on the racetrack. All along I thought this move wasn't necessary at this time. The trucks already had good racing and I thought the old trucks looked good. But I guess NASCAR wanted a change. 86.
