The first truck race at I-70 they would run 5 races here the last being
in 1999

The race was postponed due to heavy rains in the area. If it were not
for the help of jet dryer from Heartland Park Topeka, there was a chance
that race wouldn't start even on May 27th. Still, problem of weepers was
not solved and the track surface was slippery.

Randy Churchill makes his Truck debut in the truck previously driven by
his father Jerry. Randy raced as a Canadian and was the first
non-American driver to run in the NASCAR Truck series.

According to the TNN broadcast, the 7 truck caught fire during the post
race inspection process.

The commentators for the race were Mike Joy and Glenn Jarrett with the
sole pit road reporter being Ralph Sheheen.

Steve Portenga's 5th place stands as the best finish for the #83 in
series history, to date. Also was the only Top 5 for team owner Linda
Mountanos.

The starting lineup seems to have been set by driver points rather than
owner points. I don't think I've seen that with any other race.
