As a result, we have 4-time Brickyard winner and 2009 Xfinity champ Kyle Busch and 2013 series champ Austin Dillon making their final Xfinity starts of the season 2. 34McDowellFan posted: 09.03.2019 - 2:07 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) No 28 car... 3. That was the beginning of series of bad finishes three different Cup drivers has participated in, therefore the #18 is on the bubble to make the Owner's Championship playoff in the five races since. 31st at Watkins Glen due to suspension failure while battling for the lead by Kyle Busch 15th at Mid-Ohio by a non-Cup driver Jack Hawksworth. 29th at Bristol due to an engine failure while leading by Kyle Busch 27th at Road America due to spinning out in the final corner of the race from the second position by Matt DiBenedetto 38th aka last place finish, after winning the race and failing post-race inspection leading to disqualification by Denny Hamlin. Kyle Busch is entered in this race as post #1 mentioned. It'll be interesting if the trend of bad finishes continues at Indianapolis. Meaning, don't marked this race as "Kyle Busch is the winner before the green flag drops" as many people tend to do. 6. It's a little oxymoron, because people want Kyle Busch out of the Xfinity Series for good, but as long as he isn't winning, he won't stop. So you want him to quit, but he can't quit till he gets that 100th Xfinity win. And see how it's more difficult, when he's getting closer? It ain't as easy as winning 5 Truck races in 5 starts, because he's in the 50s there, not in the 90s. That thing called bad luck can be pretty nasty sometimes. 19. It's fairly easy to get a Chevy engine, there are several builders. Fords have to come from Yates, and now that Triad has closed shop, I think Toyotas have to come from TRD. Even if the cost is the same, there's just a limit on how many engines Yates or TRD can make. 25. UnderdogFan89 posted: 09.06.2019 - 1:23 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) One thing I just noticed when looking over things for this weekend - because of Hamlin taking it easy last week in qualifying and only beating one car, the #18 has a pretty poor pit stall selection this week. Granted, most of the cars around him could be out or not on the lead lap when pit stops happen, but it's an interesting consequence that carries over from last week. 26. If we've learned anything over the years though, it is to not take quotes like that seriously because they rarely come to fruition. I'll believe it when I see it. I've also seen quotes indicating police locked the team out of their own shop, so who knows what to believe. 29. ScottB posted: 09.06.2019 - 5:20 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) 26, Going back and looking at the initial press releases, Circuit City was signed on to be the primary on the H2 car from Iowa to the end of the season (full-time). H2 may not have gotten the payment that was promised for the races they did run, in violation of that contract. And obviously H2 will be not be running all those events, which could allow Circuit City to back out from their side. So, the answer to your question would be there was (is) a contract, but it is being broken and we'll probably see a court fight over which side violated the terms first. They could also work it out among themselves to come back and try again in 2020, but those amicable resolutions are rare in this situation, and Shane Lee is already out of the equation, so I don't have much hope for that. 30. Harmon's spotter said he was clear to head low without realizing the hard charging Annett. As Harmon checked up Annett went low to avoid him and Harmon made contact with the right rear quarter panel, just enough for it to completely blow of Annett's bumper cover. No internal damage to the chassis occurred. Annett then went over into the 74's garage stall to show his displeasure. Annett's take was "Arguing with an idiot. I've been told not to argue with idiots, people not watching might not know who the idiot is so...I was following the 20 and he kept coming down and coming down and I'm like 'he's gotta know I'm here' but he just kept coming down and coming down and my left sides were on the curbing and in the grass um, he (Harmon) said his spotter told him he was clear...spotter (Harmon's) tells our spotter (Annett's) he never said anything, just a bunch of idiots. I don't know, we're going to fast to have people like that out there and if he's blaming it on the spotter he better have someone else up there cuz that's what this place is all about, trusting the guy cuz we're not lifing..." 33. You do realize this makes him one race closer to reaching win #100 in Xfinity, which is Kyle's goal? This is his 96th career win (unless post-race inspection failure happens), and with the 5 race limit winning 4 times next season (which he has done so in 2019 as well, this marking his 4th win in 2019) would make him reach win #100. Common sense people. You should want Kyle to win so he can finally reach his goal, and we can finally see less of him in Xfinity. Not to mention, I believe the race limit reduction is only happening and won't be fully permanent (aka if you raced Cup in 5 years, you will no longer race Xfinity) until Kyle does it and we all know NASCAR want Kyle to get there. 126. At this point let's get it over with so he can move on and stick to Cup. Also with this being Kyle's 6th win at Indianapolis (4th in Xfinity and 2 in Cup), is that the most all time by a single driver here in all series combined at this track, circuit and Grand Prix? That's not counting the non-points Count 4 Dash heat race win back in 2016 (which was really pointless) so he has 7 total. 137. LOL, people are so desperate now when Kyle Busch wins that they even have to pray hard, so he could fail post-race inspection and not get a win. Do you even realize he will stay longer in the Xfinity Series because of that? He needs just 4 more wins, so you should pray he will get those wins as quickly as possible and will be finally out of Xfinity. 125. At least someone understands it. Thumb up. 128. Did you see his Victory Lane interview? He wasn't even happy, so it looks like he just wants to get it over with as quickly as possible. 137. Well, he already is a legend, he won basically everywhere and he won a title in each series except Trucks. He can only add more and more wins now, but there isn't anything left to win (except Daytona 500, race at Charlotte Roval and the Truck title). So I wouldn't mind at all, if he suddenly had bigger decline than Jimmie Johnson. 144. In that case, KBM will be shut down and it will hurt the Truck Series. So if NASCAR doesn't want to ruin one of its series even more, they won't ban Cup drivers from racing in Trucks. Hell, there just has to be some reason Cup drivers are allowed to run 5 Truck races for the 3rd consecutive year... 148. Damn, I miss those old days, when Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards and Brad Keselowski were racing against each other. In one race, Kyle Busch was better and beat both of his opponents. In another one, Carl Edwards was better etc. That level of competition is the reason why Kyle Busch didn't win 20 races in one season (like in 2009, when he "only" won 9 times while running full season). 153. Not so long ago it was clear he just wanted to be the winner, and didn't care if there wasn't any competition. Now, tho, I do get the sense he may be tired of it, and only racing due to sponsor commitments (which does jibe with the 100 win retirement thing - that could be a way of telling Gibbs "don't sell me as driver too far out in the future, because I'm tired of this"). As for most wins, it wouldn't surprise me if that was Ray Harroun, who won several times in the tracks early days, before the 500. After that the track was only used for one race per year, so no chance for drivers to run up wins in multiple series until recently. Jimmy Johnson has 5, I think he's the only one close to Busch in modern times. 156. Sector posted: 09.08.2019 - 1:33 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) #155 Do you mean Jimmie Johnson? I know Ray Harroun won the very first Indy 500 race back in 1911 (also his last start, which is impressive), but I didn't know he won two more times the year before in 1910.
