This is Hamlin's second race of the weekend after his annual Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown last night at South Boston. He ended up with a rough 31st place finish out of 36 due to a blown engine. Truck Series racer Timothy Peters won the Showdown Lee Pulliam spun on the last lap after third-place Josh Berry hit him from behind. 10. I can't wait for NASCAR to just go ahead and declare that there will be mandatory cautions every 25-50 laps or so in every race so there can be more restarts and excitement. I have somewhat of a solution: Make the field larger in the Cup, and throw in a bunch of Nationwide regulars. That should be interesting, though I don't think it would be good for the Xfinity series' sake. 50. I think I'm only gonna watch a handful of races: Talladega Road America Daytona Mid-Ohio Phoenix Homestead Iowa (2x) Darlington (I have NEVER seen an NXS race on TV there, believe it or not!) 53. I think a realistic option is to not award owners points to cars that field drivers that race for Sprint Cup points. Sponsors are still going to coerce the likes of Penske and Gibbs to field Cup drivers, but keeping the lion's share of the end season points fund from them may deter some Cup owners from fielding an Xfinity team with Cup drivers for the majority of the year. 64. ii posted: 04.25.2015 - 12:40 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) "I think a realistic option is to not award owners points to cars that field drivers that race for Sprint Cup points. Exactly what I was thinking. Obviously they won't ban Cup drivers from the lower series, but what needs to be done is to not encourage them to race there. It's not like Mark Martin really cared about the championship points when he ran races in the NBS. The teams themselves need to be penalized, or we'll start seeing a lot of seasons where the champion has no wins, less than 100 laps led and only 5 top-5's in the season if nothing changes. It's one thing when a couple Cup drivers enter the field to prepare for the Cup race, it's another when you have Cup winners out there kicking everyone else's arse week in and week out. 65. ch posted: 04.25.2015 - 5:00 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Sponsor Changes: 40 - Braille Battery / Sweet n' Surf Ice Cream Parlor 90 - Geneva Liberty Steel 97 - Vroom!
