"Rowdy" Busch lead almost the whole thing, can you say BORING. Still, winning in two different series on the same day at the same track, that's impressive. 2. The most exciting part of the race was Michael McDowell's car was on fire before he hit the wall and Carl Edwards getting bumped by Kyle Busch on lap 135. Good runs by Morgan Shepherd, Brendan Gaughan, Steve Wallace,Scott Lagasse, Jr., Justin Allgaier, Michael Annett, David Green, and Ken Butler. 3. At one point he led by over 10 seconds... 4. He's a lock for ROTY I think. McDowell had a strong qualifying run but had a fiery crash because of an oil line I think. And how about ol' Morgan Shepherd finishing 19th only a lap down. Not bad! Biffle flat out wrecked Keselowski, then wrecked himself a bit later. Serves him right. Also I thought Waltrip pitting his car backwards was kinda funny, thought it cost him a lot of time. 5. Looks like he's got one sweet ride this year. 6. DaleJrFan17 posted: 02.22.2009 - 1:35 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Okay this is pitiful, Kyle Busch, stop buschwacking for christ sake. Let the real busch drivers have a chance. I didnt even watch this race but I still noticed hes led ALL BUT 13 LAPS SO FAR THIS WEEKEND 7. b4il3y posted: 02.22.2009 - 1:51 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) And races will continue to be boring as all hell in the Busch Series until they do something about 12-15 Cup Racers a week. I've already put more than my 2 cents in on why we can have new drivers because they can't develop in a series dominated by cup owners and drivers. As far as I'm concerned, Brendan Gaughan won this race..Wallace 2nd, Leffler 3rd, Lagasse Jr 4th, and Bliss 5th. BTW...awesome beyond awesome job by Morgan Shepherd. A Top 20. Someone help me out here..he has support this year from one of the cup teams as far as engines go I think. 8. 18fan posted: 02.22.2009 - 1:55 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Kyle becomes the first driver in NASCAR history to win two National Touring series races in the same day. 9. sit there and go "uuuggghhh" posted: 02.22.2009 - 1:58 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) boring race until that restart but got boring again and Kyle Busch won. 10. Hey Gillian, find another job because unless you completely tear up and rebuild that track the racing there is always gonna suck. 11. Anonymous posted: 02.22.2009 - 11:32 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Probably the worst part about the track is that it has two dates, and it somehow managed to secure a race in the "playoffs", aka the Cha$e. 13. Amen to that. 15. Rusty posted: 02.22.2009 - 12:51 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) In the last two Nationwide races at California, Kyle Busch has led 287/300 laps. Pathetic, Tony Stewart also led the spring Nationwide race here last year start to finish. This track sucks big time, please cut it to once a year like we used to have. 16. Mamorese posted: 02.22.2009 - 1:22 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) California was much better as a 2 groove racetrack. The fact that the drivers can race from the bottom all the way out to the wall is why they get spread out so fast. 17. the Great Dave posted: 02.22.2009 - 1:59 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Keurtis Davis sponsor was www.getvacations.com same sponsor he had in Daytona. 18. the Great Dave posted: 02.22.2009 - 2:01 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I was wrong about Davis's sponsor,it was www.getmorevacations.com >_< 19. He has also received a lot of help from Kevin Harvick, Tony Stewart, and Johnny Davis. 20. That's not that interesting of a statistic. Furthermore, it's not that interesting when it happens at a shitty track like Fontana in which you just need a good car and you can lead 10+ seconds. 22. theojays posted: 02.22.2009 - 4:52 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) You guys are obviously blind. This was anything but a 'bad' race, if that is what you refer to it as. I enjoyed every lap and pass. I was on edge, and the racing was fantastic. 23. Anonymous posted: 02.22.2009 - 11:13 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Most people just see California and say "boring" without watching the actual race. Sure, Kyle dominated, but there was a ton of racing behind him. 24. Kit posted: 02.23.2009 - 2:58 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Dude, there's more racing at my local short track than there was behind Kyle. Fontana sucks. 25. WallaceFan posted: 02.23.2009 - 3:36 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Terribly boring race, but good outcome from my point of view. Great run for Brendan...probably doesnt need to worry about locking up ROY. Great run for Steve, kept it solid all day, got the lucky dog after a round of green flag stops..and maanges a top 10. Hopefully we can keep this up. First top 10 on a 1 1/2 or 2 mile track...good sign. 26. A small correction: the 96 car was owned by Dusty Whitney, not Brad Keselowski. 28. Kit posted: 02.24.2009 - 3:05 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) "the racing at Fontana is getting better." One driver leading the race by 10 seconds the entire time and the racing is improving? 29. And, you know, sometimes when there isn't random "debris" all over the track one driver will get a big lead. That's how automobile races work. 31. Sector posted: 02.03.2020 - 6:58 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Kyle Busch continued his dominating performance from the Truck series (led 95 of 100 laps) at this very same track by dominating once more in Nationwide, leading 143 of 150 laps. No one in the history of NASCAR has never won two NASCAR national series (Cup, Busch/Nationwide/Xfinity and Truck) on the same day until Kyle Busch did it on February 21st, 2009. Kyle Busch came close during the Daytona Fourth of July weekend back in 2007, losing to a photo finish to Jamie McMurray in the Cup race while winning the Busch/Nationwide race. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
