It was his first BUSCH series win. Little's took the lead with 3 to go, and it was sealed when a very loose Steve Grissom had his air taken off his bumper. The resulting wreck took out nearly a dozen cars. Notes: Little's starting position of 42nd is a record for the furthest anyone has come to win at Daytona (as of the end of 2004) 2. He won a Super Bowl in 1991 with the Washington Redskins and Joe Gibbs as his coach. 3. Darrell posted: 07.09.2006 - 1:38 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) That team is now the 10 for ppc Racing. 4. The team moved up to Cup full time in 1997 as the #97 with Pollex still in charge (they had dabbled in Cup for the previous 3 years), but he sold the team to Roush at the end of the year. The current Pollex-owned #10 in the Busch Series came into the series in 1999 as the #32 Kleenex Chevrolet after Pollex bought into Jason Keller's team and started fielding a second car. When Grissom wrecked in Turn 4, his car slightly came off the ground in Turn 4. Joe Bessey popped a wheelie when he piled into the big wreck. This race is also notable for the fact that it was the first race in the Busch Grand National Series run with V8 Engines instead of V6's. 6. This was also Chad Little's biggest single race paychek ever in his Busch Series career. 7. Lumina body styles were far more common than V6 engines in 1995. 10. They really had a different sound. 11. Mark Martin, who was running fourth, had nowhere to go and slammed into the back of the slowed #29, spinning him out and blocking the race track. Eleven of the sixteen cars on the lead lap piled in. Kenny Wallace, Jeff Green, Martin, and Jeff Purvis were all involved but were able to drag their damaged cars around under caution well enough to finish the race. Terry Labonte was running near the bottom of the top 10 but swung his car all the way to the apron without slowing and passed the wad of crashing cars. 16. 23andJoe posted: 03.02.2014 - 7:53 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) While I can find no further data, it APPEARS that Harris DeVane attempted to qualify for this race, as his crew chief, Cliff Greene, was fined $100 for using an illegal air filter. 17. 23andJoe posted: 03.07.2014 - 4:12 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Add to DNQs: Kevin Lepage, #71 Vermont Teddy Bear Chevrolet (Kevin Lepage) Troy Bebee 18. 23andJoe posted: 03.07.2014 - 4:14 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Kevin Lepage was in the #71. 19. 23andJoe posted: 03.07.2014 - 4:59 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) #39 owner: Leon Fox (same for all races this year) 20. Seibaru posted: 01.09.2017 - 6:05 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @26 It's complicated, but I believe it was because Busch North guys were allowed to race. They could get some Busch North points if they qualified, and the field was expanded a little so there weren't just one or two cars from Busch North racing, as that wouldn't be fair (there ended up being three in this race, 41st place starter Sullivan, 43rd place starter Hoddick, and 45 place starter Aube). It was kinda silly anyway outside of tracks like Loudon, which is why they don't do it anymore. 28. Anonymous posted: 01.10.2017 - 6:10 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Indeed it was because of the Busch North series drivers. There were 40 places open from qualifying speeds, then two spots for Busch series provisionals and two spots for Busch North provisionals. Each series also had a spot reserved for a past champion's provisional allowing for a maximum field of 46 cars. The BGN provisionals for this race went to Chad Little and Tim Fedewa, while the Busch North provisionals went to Glenn Sullivan and Steve Hoddick. Jamie Aube took the Busch North past champion's provisional. 29. 23andJoe posted: 01.10.2017 - 7:06 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) >It was kinda silly anyway outside of tracks like Loudon, which is why they don't do it anymore. Well, they don't do it anymore also and more importantly because the Busch/Nationwide/Xfinity and Busch North/K&N East cars diverged significantly, the Xfinity cars becoming even more 'Cup Lite' and the East cars shifting half a step down closer to what All-Pro/Southwest Tour type cars used to be. I think Daytona was the only track outside of the Northeast that ran combination Busch/Busch North races, and it was Because Daytona; Loudon, Watkins Glen and Nazareth were the 'traditional' combo races, but there were a few others. Checking, it seems the last combo-race dates were... Oxford Plains, 1991. Dover, 1992. NHIS, 1995. Daytona, 1997. Nazareth, 2000. Watkins Glen, 2000. 30. Scott B posted: 01.11.2017 - 7:20 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) Yes, this was similar to the deal where Winston Cup and Winston West cars ran some combination races each seasen for many years. During the seasons of Cup/West and Busch/North combined events, the car specs in the lower series of the combo fields would be very similar to the higher series to allow the regional feeder series teams to run hand me down equipment from the upper series not just for these special events, but all season long. In the later years of these events, the handful of lower series cars that were making the field were pretty badly out of thier element against the better funded upper series teams. 31. 23andJoe posted: 01.15.2017 - 9:47 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Tim Bender set the fastest time in second round qualifying, at 184.949mph. Several teams still ran their old Luminas in this race though, notably Cup racer Terry Labonte was the highest finishing Chevrolet with one as he brought the white #14 MW Windows Lumina home third after he went low and dodged all the chaos at the end. 35. RaceFanX posted: 02.17.2020 - 10:46 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Sponsor: #34 Mike McLaughlin- French's Mustard / Black Flag #43 Rodney Combs- WCW SuperBrawl V The joint French's Mustard and Black Flag bug killer sponsorship moved over from Rodney Combs' Petty Enterprises #43 Pontiac to Mike McLaughlin and the Cicci-Weeliver Racing #34 Chevrolet for 1995. Normally those sponsors alternated race to race but for the first race of the partnership the team followed Combs' example from 1994 and ran a unique scheme split down the middle with the left side in yellow-and-blue for French's and the right in red-and-black for Black Flag. Magic Shoes qualified his new Monte Carlo well and ran in the top-10 early before a spin in the opening laps doomed his chances for a good finish, the car had the top of its oil tank oddly come off in the spin and a small fire resulted but they were able to repair it and send him back out. The team ran the split scheme again at Talladega later in the season and again had trouble early as they crashed out there. Combs meanwhile returned to the Petty team for another campaign in 1995 with a new sponsorship from WCW, the World Championship Wrestling promotion that out to challenge the WWF. The deal came together in the last few days before this race so Combs ran this race in a traditional Petty Blue and STP Red paint scheme with some WCW decals hastily added to the car. Combs would run well early on, even passing Dale Jarrett to lead a few laps, but later fell back and looped it on the backstretch. The WCW's last minute sponsorship intended to promote SuperBrawl V, a wrestling pay-per-view that took place the day after this race, although they would stick around for a few more races early in the season after this one. (Humorously Kyle Petty also called it the WWF by mistake at one point, given Petty would later join the fun in WCW as an honorary member of the infamous nWo I don't think they held it against him) Coincidentally both McLaughlin and Combs' spins saw the roof flaps on their cars deploy, a very good thing in McLaughlin's case as his #34 spun at high speed and was starting to catch some air. The ESPN announcers were very complimentary of how good a job the still relatively new development was doing at keeping cars on the ground. 36.
