The climatic racing scene for the 1988 movie "Born to Race" was shot
during this race. In the movie Barry Bostick's #61 Born to Race Pontiac
(which even in the movie has the movie's name on it as a sponsor for
some reason) is the car driven by the hero, "Al Pagura" played by Joseph
Bottoms. Of course it wins after a good pit stop gives him the lead and
his holds of his rival, the not actually in the race #13 Henderson
Pontiac of "Kenny Landruff" played by Beastmaster's Marc Singer, blows
his motor and crashes hard trying to cheat his way to victory. The film
is percieved to be a dud and basically forgotten.

Seen in the movie apparently Davey Allison took a spin down the pit road
at one point before rallying for his top-10.

Jefferson Pilot broadcast this race. Mike Hogewood and Jerry Punch were

@13 - it is interesting that you, he, DanishPie, and a couple of other
posters have the same style of flooding the site with relevant but
rather low importance posts. I think the moderators need to add
rate-limiting to the site.
