Tommy Houston and Dale Earnhardt tangled in turn 4 while racing for
second place on lap 76. They slid the entire length of the front
straightaway and slammed into Brett Bodine who was just exiting the pits
in turn one. Bodine's Oldsmobile was totally demolished, and the
incident probably cost him the 1986 championship.
