You do know it's possible for more than one thing to break on a car, don't you? Perhaps a chunk of broken fan knocked the shift linkage off the transmission. Anyway, if "fan" is what the team reported to NASCAR, then "fan" is the reason for the DNF, regardless of what else might have broken. 12.
