I've defended this series for a while, but it's time to let it go. Maybe
a merger with PASS or the Southern Super series is in order. Both of
those series could always use a bump in the car count.

This series has gotten real bad. No wonder why the races haven't been on
TV for the last few years. What a shame as this used to be a good series.

It doesn't seem that long ago that this series was getting 30+ car
fields consistently and now the fields are the size of what you would
see in a heat race at your local short track.

I'm fairly impressed that they were able to put together a $21,000 purse
for an 8 car race...assuming the teams all actually got paid what it
says here.

The series has always been cursed: remember that it can trace its
lineage back to Humphy Wheeler's old (and murderously lethal) Sportsman
series...

Maybe using full-blown SLM-like cars a la the ARCA (formerly ASA)
Midwest Tour might help?

RaceFanX, I'm pretty sure there are many other racing series that have
had no one make their debut in the first race of any such season before.
Take for example, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series.

Thus, the X-1R Pro Cup Series is not alone when it comes to
season-beginning races of a racing series without any drivers debuting
in the series (or making their first career start in the series for that
matter).

Cup is full of established drivers, ProCup is somewhat supposed to be a
feeder series and I find that odd at this level (compare it to all the
new drivers popping up annually in say Indy Lights).

Don't count your eggs before they hatch. There were at least 2 drivers
entered for this race that never showed up at the track.
