Koch briefly grabbed the lead from Vidovich on the restart, but Auggie drove back by him and went unchallenged throughout. Brennan Newberry was running second with three laps to go when he lost power coming off turn 2. Newberry was really fast but he couldn't pass lapped traffic as well as Vidovich could and Auggie pulled away. 2. Black Koch gets his best career finish in 2nd; it's his 10th West Series top ten in his 20th career start. Brett Thompson gets his 20th top five in his 97th career start. Moses Smith gets his 10th top five in 47 career starts, his 2nd of the season. Chris Johnson finishes a career-best 5th, and made it two James Cass-owned cars in the top five. Timmy Hill and Dusty Davis finish in the top 10 in their first career West Series starts. 3. He was the 2003 champ, won eleven times (http://www.thethirdturn.com/wiki/Auggie_Vidovich). Turns out, in the grandest irony in recent memory, this was the last ever race for Team Cass Motorsports. Despite winning in one car and finishing 5th in the other, they announced the following week they were selling their assets. 4. 18fan posted: 02.01.2011 - 6:15 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Team Cass came back for the All Star Showdown with Jason Fensler running the same car that Vidovich won with and he was running third when he spun Darrell Wallace Jr. under caution and hit the wall and then was caught up in Derek Thorn's accident later and totaled the car. 5. Man I love my home track so much. Been saving some money to hopefully purchase a legend car or anything else available that I can run at the track. 7. possum posted: 04.17.2020 - 7:52 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @6 - make sure your money includes enough for a really good helmet and other safety gear. Does Irwindale still run Enduros? If you're into the mechanical side of things, that might give you more opportunity to learn. Legends are, by design, pretty limited on what you can adjust. OTOH, if you just want to drive, get a Legend with a sealed 1250 engine and you'll minimize the non-driving stuff you need to worry about (of course you'll still have to get caster, camber, toe, weights, etc right). 8. I think a Legend car would be a great way for me to start out as you said it doesn't take as much to maintain on the mechanical side to get my feet wet. 9.
