2002 ASA champ Joey Clanton makes his final start in the series, and his
only one of 2004, leading a lap but ultimately ending up with a DNF.

Mike Garvey wins at Lanier for the second year in a row as ASA visits
the Georgia short track for the last time. This was the first of five
wins for Garvey in 2004.

Mike Cope's runner-up performance matched his best career ASA finish.
Lanier was a good track for Cup, years before this strong run he won a
NASCAR Slim Jim All Pro Series race on the Georgia short track in 1996.

The difference between pole and DNQ'ing in qualifying was about 2 tenths
of a second. Talk about tight. A few ASA vets and young hotshots like
Joey Logano and Shane Sieg were among the surprise DNQ's.

Wow why is the kid in the 38 running? I think 13 is WAY too young in
this series. No way he will have a good cup career.
