Mike Garvey records his fourth win of the season. This was his first ASA
win at Elko.

Short track legend Dick Trickle makes his final ASA start, crashing out
early. The White Knight won 32 races in the series and was a series
regular throughout much of the 1980s before he moved up to Winston Cup.

Scott Hansen, another highly-talented Wisconsin short tracker, also made
his final ASA start in this one, coming home 20th. Hansen raced on the
tour from 1984 to 2003, including a tenure as a regular throughout much
of the 1990s, and won 26 races.

Greg Creamer and Jim Tretow were the commentators. Bob Dillner and Rob
Albright were the pit road reporters.

ASA raced at Elko in June during 2002 but had its race moved to Labor
Day for 2003 and 2004 as this event became the replacement for the
series' former race at the Minnesota State Fair Speedway when the
fairgrounds closed and demolished that oval. The new holiday scheduling
explains why this was deliberately a Monday event.
