@3 I know I have read of something like this happening in the 1960s (A
Plymouth to a Chrysler or vice-versa), but could Pat have had some sort
of issue that forced him to go to a back-up car, and although the
primary being a Chevrolet, the back-up car being a Pontiac.

We've seen that at least once in ARCA this year with a team listing a
Ford on an entry list and racing a Chevrolet at Talladega.

Well, there was also one in the Cup race at Talladega. The Rick Ware
Racing car was entered as a Ford, listed by TV as a Ford, but the car
very clearly was a Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 without the bowtie emblems.

The commentators for the race were Bob Dillner and Buddy Baker with Jim
Tretow and Brian Till on pit road.
