Joey Clanton secures ASA's record for most victories to start a season
with his fifth win in a row to kick off 2002. This victory wasn't
without controversy as Clanton put the bumper to series legend Mike
Eddy, making his first start of 2002 and reviving his famous #88, in the
closing laps. Eddy got loose and dropped back while Clanton drove on to
win.

Clanton justified noting he thought Eddy brake checked him (Eddy denied
that) and that Eddy probably would have done the same to him (sounds
about right).

Paul Paine originally qualified 4th but had his time disallowed.
