Alabama racer and former Busch series competitor David Bonnett makes his
final ASA start and only one of the 2001 season, retiring early on. This
was Bonnett's last higher level stock car race.

Kevin Cywinski tallies his first ASA win since 1997.

Mike Miller's runner-up finish was his last top-5 finish in ASA
competition and his only one of 2001.

This was Chevrolet's 300th victory in ASA, in pure dominance, the only
other manufacturers to even win in the series at this point were Pontiac
(122), Ford (50), Buick (8), and Oldsmobile (2).

The Chevrolets utterly owned ASA from 2001 onward, winning all but three
of the series remaining races. The adoption of a spec Chevy motor for
all cars in the series, no matter their brand, to use in 2000 made other
brands all but extinct especially among the front runners. Pontiac won a
few races in 2000 but by this point their winning days were over.
