This race was not televised (although it the 1997 one was) but it was run with a day into night format. The first third of this Trick Track race saw the hometown Eddy out front holding off a challenge from Scott Hansen before later laps saw Gary St. Amant, Mike Miller, and Jimmie Johnson come into contention. The race came down to a Pontiac vs. Pontiac battle between Miller and Eddy with the Polar Bear grabbing the lead briefly with 3 to go when Miller got way loose out of turn 5. Miller stayed on it and passed Eddy back for the win through turn 2 on the next lap after Eddy got way loose in turn 1. Jeff Fultz lost all the front body work of his #30 due to accident damage, leaving the engine completely exposed. Despite his stock car looking more like a modified he still led the race, stayed on the lead lap, and finished in the top-10. Oklahoma racer Billy Turner pulled an upset in qualifying as he claimed his only ASA pole, his only start better than 17th all season. Turner's time up front was short as Eddy passed him before they reached the end of the backstretch. He eventually crashed out early. 2. The race didn't go as well and this would be the first of just two ASA appearances for Howe as a driver. Today he's taken over the family business and runs chassis manufacturer Howe Racing Enterprises. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
