Ty Gibbs was running third in the first half of the race when he got frustrated with lapped car Tommy Vigh Jr. and the two touched and Vigh went around, and when he slid back down the track he collected points leader Michael Self, who then showed his displeasure with Gibbs after getting out of his car. Self had just taken the points lead from Travis Braden after Talladega, and promptly gave it back to Braden. However, Braden only managed eighth place in this race and his lead is only 30 points. The crash also involved third-place points man Bret Holmes, who recovered to finish fifth. Meanwhile, Christian Eckes wins the race and jumps to fifth place in the standings. Eckes had missed the race at Salem to illness and crashed the next time out at Talladega, and this win helped get him back in the mix. 2. It's definitely low, yes, but it's also about the same number that have been showing up at short tracks for the past year 6. 12334 posted: 05.06.2019 - 9:52 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Vigh has done surprisingly well lin that 10 until these 2 weekends. Wow. Caudell had a rough go of it, he was on pit road during the pace laps and was also black flagged twice. Even got the black flag with the white X on it, I have never actually seen that used before. Most drivers pull in before it gets to that threat. Withdrew: Brian Finney - 69 - Bob Steele Chevrolet - Brian Finney - Chevrolet Brian was going to make his first ARCA start in two years but pulled out near the last minute due to not finishing working on the car. The Kimmels drafted Barry Layne in to go and run their steel car for a few laps. 9. I know the accidents weren't Tommys fault, but wrecked cars are wrecked cars 10. rm posted: 05.06.2019 - 3:50 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) To the rear - 2, 48 - pitting before the green First caution - laps 45-51 - 11 smoking backstretch; free pass - 46 Second caution - laps 73-80 - 10, 18, 23, 25 accident turn 2; free pass - none Third caution - laps 122-128 - debris frontstretch; free pass - 46 1 sponsor - Fast Track High Performance Driving School 2 sponsor - CCM/Driven Race Wax 11 sponsor - Ashville Propane/Ohio Ag Equipment 28 sponsor - Scott's/GMPartsNow 46 sponsor - Empire Racing Group Finally, the full race name was a doozy. He couldn't get his car ready in time, though, and put the onus back on the Kimmels to field the #69 for the weekend. Was quite a trip for Barry Layne to drop everything and run up to Nashville from Florida for the extended weekend, especially just to run a couple laps and load it back up. Finney did finally return in the fall race at Salem, nearly 2 and a half years since he had showed up, as a driver anyway (I think he was part of Scott Reeves' crew at Daytona in 2018, but I don't think he drew attention to that fact). Unfortunately, his car was still not up to speed and he struggled to prepare it for the race, ultimately pulling into the pits just past the quarter-mark on that evening to have the crew work on it for a while before eventually parking it for the night. Finney finally made it to the checkered flag again in the ARCA East race at New Smyrna this February, running every lap even though he did finish three behind race winner Sam Mayer. 13.
