Must have been a traffic jam on pit road so the #48 & #80 had to stay out for a few more circuits. They sent cars home from Salem that did not qualify not that many years ago. 4. Gallagher may have won had the race been a few laps longer. 5. FHgrad99 posted: 04.27.2014 - 7:57 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Grant Enfinger was dominating in the early part of the race. He was leading by over 1/4 of a lap before the first caution came out. Ken Schrader got better as the race went along and it looked like it was going to be him vs. Enfinger for the win on the green-white checkered. Schrader had fender damage after colliding with a lapped car late in the race and the tire let go going into turn 1 on the restart, clearing the way for Enfinger to make it 3 for 3 to start the season. Kyle Benjamin was never a factor after his car hit a pothole on the race track which affected his car's handling for the rest of the race. 6. While at Mobile there was never any doubt about Enfinger's eventually victory, this race was very much up in the air until the final restart. In the closing laps Ken Schrader and Kyle Weatherman came together as Schrader was lapping Weatherman, the resulting contact evidently caused a slow leak in the time because as soon as the green flag waved on the final restart, Schrader immediately blew out the tire and hit the wall, ending his chance at victory. Despite Enfinger's 3rd straight win to start the season, his team is apparently STILL in search of full season funding. Cunningham teammates Tom Hessert III and Austin Wayne Self had a "discussion" after the race, Hessert was unhappy with being moved out of the way in turn 4 coming to the checkered flag. I guess the Roulo Brothers need to work on their Salem setups, Benjamin and Weatherman finished 1-2 here last fall and both were complete non factors today. The #46 team was unable to find sponsorship for Maryeve Dufault this week and Brian Finney took her place, though Ashley Stange is listed as the owner for offical reasons, it was a renumbering of Finney's usually #80 car and his pit crew, Finney's backup car was entered as #80 as a start and park with another driver. Shout out to both Hixson cars finishing in the top 15! Including Karl Weber at his hometrack. 7. That's interesting, I guess the broadcast team missed it. Man, this track is really feast or famine for Benjamin. Last spring, he got a FIVE LAP penalty for improperly exiting pit road, last fall he won, now he hits a pothole. He's really got to be looking forward to Toledo. 8. I was at the race today. People who weren't there will complain about the start and parks but it was still a decent race. Mason Mitchell took the lead at one point and took off, and had a half lap lead before the caution flew. Photos: https://www.flickr.com/photos/bluegrassrailfan/sets/72157644336250442/ 12. We're extremely understaffed and lacking the equipment to do such a quick turnaround for 2 such different tracks. We simply had to set up cars for the better paying race and go. Post #6, Weatherman's car was his same as last year. He bought it (although it's old as hell) from Hillenburg last year and ran it as a Dodge. This year he brought it to the Roulos who converted it to a Ford. Andy still spotted for him. Also, the #46 was a complete Finney entry this weekend. The only "Stange" thing about it was the owners points. Finney just put a #46 on his Mobile car. The #3 has not been a Hixson entry all year, driving school Race 101 has run it all year. The only thing Hixson about it is the owners points, and Wayne helps them out at the track. Despite the start & parks, this was an exciting race. Didn't know who was gonna win until the very end.
