Frank Kimmel again doesn't win at Daytona but he finishes second for the third time. Martinsville Speedway president Clay Campbell scores his best ARCA finish to date bu claiming third place at the wheel of Ken Schrader's famous #52. Polesitter Dylan Kwasniewski and Chase Elliott both ran this race to get NASCAR clearance to run the Busch race next week. Jeb Burton ran this race to get accustomed to his new Truck series ride at ThorSport but got crashed out early. 3. 83andJoe posted: 02.15.2014 - 7:21 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Ooh, new DNQ listing format? His uncle Frank Kimmel's car was the same car Brandon McReynolds won with at Talladega in 2013 but rebuilt from a Chevrolet into a Toyota. Spencer Gallagher originally qualified third but his car was DQed after it was found to have an illegal lowering device in post-qualifying inspection. With the #23 thrown out of the field he hopped in the team car #20 for the race, replacing rookie Scott Sheldon who was to make his ARCA debut. 7. I'll never understand the mindset of staying in line and not trying to make a move, but it seems to happen in every single superspeedway race now. 12. epzik8 posted: 02.15.2014 - 7:53 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I enjoyed watching this race but all of those caution laps during the first half were pretty boring. 13. I'll never understand the mindset of staying in line and not trying to make a move, but it seems to happen in every single superspeedway race now." The majority of plate races have been atrocious the last year or so due to drivers just sitting in line not wanting to "mess up a good points day". WTF does that even mean in the 1st race of the season, and at Daytona to boot? 14. Additionally, the TV crew missed an accident that happened in Turn 2 at about this same time (just after the 2nd restart). Not sure how it happened, but the 40 of Danielsson and the 86 of Grewohl got together and made significant contact with the outside wall. Both had to come down pit road the next lap with flat tires and both had to repair right side damage. This incident also did not draw a yellow flag. 26. But it seemed like everyone had a hard time getting a run. didn't really matter how many cars were in line if someone stepped out even with a decent amount of friends they went nowhere. But having to make a green flag pitstop bit him hard. Thought this race was one of the better Daytona ARCA races in recent years. The restrictor plate changes definitely helped the competition.
