I'm talking about Justin Lofton, who is sponsored by Lofton Cattle, his family business. Funny how he gets the best car by far in the field because he has solid sponsorship while Kilgerman out-performed him in an unsponsored car. 2. Dodge posted: 10.11.2009 - 10:52 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Yeah, I agree. He won it because he started first, second or third so many times and those positions pay points after qualifications. Also, look at Lofton's stats last year. Granted, he was a ROOKIE, but he really didn't do much in an Eddie Sharp Racing Dodge, but all of a sudden he hops into Sharps Toyota and he is very competitive. Parker was a ROOKIE this year and he almost wins the Championship, Parker has a very bright future while Lofton I don't think does. As 18Fan said, he is sponsored by his family-owned farm which gets him basically any team he wants since not many teams have sponsors. 3. Take a guess who has stronger engineering... Penske or Eddie Sharp? It's a joke that Parker wasn't DEMOLISHING Lofton. Having a sponsor or not doesn't mean anything when Penske is footing the bill. Parker's 77 is not the underdog. Everyone uses the same points system, by the way. 4. It's an absolute joke. If the 77 was truly better than the 6, why did there seem to be times that Lofton would absolutely drive away from Kligerman and everybody else. 6. Anonymous posted: 10.12.2009 - 10:31 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Rarely is the finishing order of any race a chronological list of who has the best stuff. Drivers have their good tracks and bad tracks, the crews may set up the car better at one track than the other, sometimes it boils down to experience... so many variables. I'm just saying that the 77 is Penske stuff and the 6 is Eddie Sharp stuff. Eddie Sharp doesn't have half the engineering geniuses behind his team. ARCA's talent level isn't that impressive, and there are only a couple of really good cars in the field. 7. Dodge posted: 10.13.2009 - 7:08 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) When you have TOYOTA as a supporter, you get the engineering help there. Penske is focusing on so many teams in so many series that I doubt the ARCA team gets much help from him, if they did then he would be able to do his own team in ARCA like Roush did last year. 8. CFob posted: 10.13.2009 - 5:38 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Every short track and almost every traveling series in the country (outside of NASCAR) gives qualifying points. Maybe if more people supported their local short tracks instead of being Sunday fans, you'd know this. Chad Finley wins his first career pole. 9. 18fan posted: 10.13.2009 - 7:09 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) I just think giving qualifying points is dumb because some guys hit a perfect lap with a 15th place car and qualify 2nd and the guy with the fastest car in the field could get a tiny bit sideways and qualify ninth, so sometimes its just pure luck. 10. Talon64 posted: 10.13.2009 - 7:37 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Eddie Sharp gets his first ARCA championship after coming close the last two seasons with Michael McDowell and Scott Speed. Lofton wasn't that great last year because he was driving one of the "other" Sharp cars. Lofton finished 3rd in this race while his teammates Tom Hessert III finished 16th, Craig Goess finished 17th and Tim George Jr. finished 22nd. I was hoping Kligerman would win the championship but they're both great talents. Lofton and Kligerman both finished 16th in their Nationwide debuts this year, Lofton with CJM and Kligerman from pole with Penske. Kligerman's 9 wins are the most by any ARCA driver in a season since Frank Kimmel had 10 in 2002. 11. It sure does make qualifying more important, doesn't it? 12. I've got a friend who works for Cunningham and he knows the team like the back of his hand. What would you rather be driving? A Cup team with winning Cup cars, or an ARCA-only team? Even in the Nationwide Series, Cup support is paramount. 13. Ivan Balakhonov posted: 10.14.2009 - 2:01 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Great finale of a great season... I'm a big fan of Kligerman, but after this race I realized that I respect Lofton very much. His charge on the last laps was epic. Great job done! I hope both Parker and Lofton have great future in stock-car racing. 14. Dodge posted: 10.14.2009 - 3:08 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Yes, I'd rather drive for Penske than an ARCA only team, but Penske is not paying the ARCA teams bill. If they had a sponsor, they would of crushed the competition. Just remembered, Lofton can thank his former teammate, Steve Arpin, for the championship since it was that clown that took Parker out at the second Pocono event. I find it a complete joke how Arpin wasn't doing anything but logging laps and then he gets hooked up with Venturini Motorsports and he is competing for wins. However, I believe if Parker runs ARCA for one more year he WILL be the Champion. Then Parker will move up to the next level. I believe Lofton will be basically be a lifetime ARCA driver like Kimmel. 15. Talon64 posted: 10.14.2009 - 4:51 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Lofton might hook up with CJM in Nationwide, he's already supposed to run some races for them later in the year in a 2nd car and made his first career start in the 11. Having the ARCA championship on his resume will help a lot, frankly Kligerman didn't really need it since he was already a Penske developmental driver to begin with. 16. Dodge posted: 10.14.2009 - 5:30 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Yes, Lofton has run a race in the CJM car but I don't think he has what it takes to be a good enough driver to make it in NASCAR. 17. Chad Finley, who's only 17, was allowed to race at Rockingham because the track is 1 mile or less. So, maybe by ARCA's standard it's just one mile, or close enough. 23. matt posted: 11.30.2009 - 3:18 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Parker Kligerman gets his 9th win in the last race of the season. 24. To the rear - 6, 51 - unapproved adjustments 7 owner - John Conely 28 owner - Mike Koch Between the last 89 laps in the spring and the first 71 laps in this race, the ARCA boys ran 160 consecutive green flag laps at Rockingham. Strange but true! Of course, that put championship hopeful Justin Lofton well behind the 8-ball as he had to start from the rear of a 41-car field with minimal early attrition. Lofton and Casey Roderick drove from shotgun on the field all the way up to the podium by the race's end - impressive! Stan Boyd desperately tried but ultimately failed to put John Conely's Chevy in the Cup field a few times back in 2005, with the team going 0-for-5 in qualifying attempts that season. Conely teamed up with the late Free Pennington to try to run some ARCA races in 2007 and 2009, failing to qualify at Toledo in 2007 but finally making the show in this very race. Pennington promptly stuffed it in the backstretch wall just a handful of laps into the race and put the silver-and-navy car out of its misery after five unsuccessful years. The undercard event for the weekend was a UARA stars late model race, won by Clay Rogers over Kyle Grissom. Rogers rode the momentum to a top five here, while Grissom made his lone ARCA attempt in an RCR Chevy but crashed out. The son of veteran racer Steve Grissom, Kyle wasn't able to turn the tryout into anything more and stuck to late models in the area. I definitely remember hearing his name a lot back then, never knew that any attempt he had at a NASCAR career came up this short. Steve wasn't the only former Busch champion to have their son make their series debut in this race, as Randy LaJoie's son Corey made his first ARCA start for KHI. Corey didn't fair too well either, dropping backwards quickly and finishing four laps down. Future Busch (okay, fine, Xfinity) series champ Chris Buescher also competed in this race. 41.
