Kudos to Andy Hillenburg for reviving Rockingham and giving us a great race like this one. NASCAR would never run a 50-car race anywhere. It was great! This was former ARCA race winner Brent Sherman's only race in 2008. First race at the Rock after the movies Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, 3: The Dale Earnhardt Story and Ta Ra Rum Pum (a Bollywood film) were filmed there. 3. I wish there were a few more races like this, I'd watch every one of them. 5. They went all out to make this race a huge event, thus the 50-car starting grid and the very long by ARCA standards 500 kilometer/312 mile race distance to assure this one would be a real crown jewel event for the tour. To date the series hasn't scheduled another race for more than 250 miles in the years since (and even that distance is reserved only for its annual stop at Talladega). 12. They sure put on a great show that day. Joey Logano made sure all race fans knew to keep him on their radar with his dominating performance, taming The Rock. Missing caution 12 because tv never said why the yellow flew, and caution 10 because that section of the race is not on Youtube. Cobbled together what I could though. TV did miss the final restart of the race though, showing just the first 3/4 of a lap after the restart and then jumping to the last half a lap with Logano crossing the line - never even showing his pass of Ken Schrader for the lead. Glad I wasn't watching this one at home, I'm sure I would not have been the only one upset at SPEED botching the finish of the race. 15. rm posted: 05.03.2017 - 11:59 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Oops, 25 crew chief was Billy Venturini not Logano, obviously. 16. Nobody has led more laps in an ARCA race since Logano's 257 here, mostly because no races have had more laps than that since then. In theory someone could dominate a GWC-extended race at Elko, I suppose. Grant Enfinger tried by leading 211 laps at Elko in 2011. So what happened to Logano's winning chassis from this race? It hung around in the Venturini stable and was rebodied to a Toyota. Ultimately it was crashed out at Toledo in 2019, though I don't know if it's been repaired since then. 21. fkhalil posted: 05.31.2020 - 2:51 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) https://www.motorsport.com/arca/news/rockingham-purse-increased/284000/ This was the richest race in ARCA history at the time, $306,557. 22. Maybe like a Daytona race in the last few years or something? 23. The story I found goes that Johnny wanted to be the first back to hit the track that earned him his loan Cup Series victory for a race weekend. 24.
