Smith made two ARCA RE/MAX Series career starts in 2004 running for Bobby Gerhart Racing at Toledo Speedway and Lake Erie Speedway. In each event Smith worked his way into the top ten during the course of the event allowing him to get a true feel for running in the series." https://www.arcaracing.com/articles/1981522-introducing-gr-smith 5. rm posted: 11.17.2017 - 4:49 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) DNQ order & owners: 35. So many drivers wrecking from the top five. First caution - laps 14-18 - 2, 5 accident turn 1 Second caution - laps 20-25 - 2, 26 accident turn 1 Third caution - laps 29-36 - 42, 65 accident turn 3/rain Fourth caution - laps 40-45 - 1, 94 accident backstretch Fifth caution - laps 49-52 - 08, 6 accident backstretch (Bell finished 5th despite having the right side of his car torn off here!) Sixth caution - laps 64-72 - 25 spun turn 3 (big fire!) Seventh caution - laps 76-79 - 29, 42, 46 accident turn 2 (spin and win for Kimmel, who was dumped by the 42) Eighth caution - laps 80-84 - 5, 59, 94 accident frontstretch Ninth caution - laps 87-90 - 29, 94 slow turn 3 Tenth caution - laps 103-106 - 46, 84 accident turn 1 (ok, double spin and win for Kimmel, dumped by the 84 this time) Eleventh caution - laps 110-115 - 21, 64, 65, 70 accident turn 3 (Allison took out both himself and Richeson going for the lead! Campbell and Bowsher tangled racing for what would be 2nd when passing the stalled leaders. Josh Richeson called Allison a moron and a stupid driver in the subsequent interview) Twelfth caution - laps 131-137 - 11 accident turn 3 (wrecked all on his own from 2nd!) Thirteenth caution - laps 161-165 - 42, 46 accident turn 1 (Revenge by Kimmel? Not quite, Serio had passed Kimmel but then began to experience problems and wrecked off of Kimmel's side when Kimmel came back to lap him again) 57 laps yellow/12 08 sponsor - DefiantClothing.com 28 sponsor - ETS 29 sponsor - K-Automotive/Diversified Documents 30 sponsor - The Hearn Group/Jones Group 64 sponsor - Dave Allison Motorsports (same for all of Josh's 2004 starts) 70 sponsor - John Bailey Motorsports (unsponsored) 94 sponsor - Kerreck Auto Sales NJ 64 owner - Dave Allison (same for all of Josh's 2004 starts) 5 crew chief - Billy Gerhart 11 crew chief - Cal Boprey 25 crew chief - Bill Venturini 29 crew chief - Bob Keselowski 42 crew chief - Eddie Sharp 46 crew chief - Bill Kimmel Jr. 70 crew chief - Donnie Richeson 86 crew chief - Larry Moore Josh Richeson's car in this race was very clearly an ex-RCR #29 Goodwrench body, with the black-and-silver base of Kevin Harvick's primary scheme still very much visible. According to the broadcast, they had to get a new body on the short track car as the old one was outdated. So they went out and picked up one that had been raced by Kevin Harvick earlier in the year! It rained lightly through much of this race, possibly leading to the stackup on the opening start that caused significant damage to Billy Venturini's car. Whatever happened eventually ended with Venturini catching fire spectacularly and spinning out 60 laps later. And, in classic Billy Venturini fashion, he blamed Frank Kimmel for the engine failure. Yep. Brent Sherman suffered radiator damage and proceeded to blame it on both Venturini and Kimmel. Mike Guerity's sponsor, the Hantz Group, was also the title sponsor of this race and they pulled out all the stops to promote the company. Guerity made sure to give them plenty of airtime exposure himself, though not in the way they would have liked. Guerity was spun out in the first caution, turned around Brad Smith to cause the second caution, ran Frank Kimmel up the track on the ensuing restart and nearly collected the field, and finally dropped oil on the track that caused the third caution. All in less than 30 laps of work! Guerity was fast when he could control it during his brief ARCA career. When he wasn't, it could look ugly. Like this. The broadcast made a point to talk about Chris Serio making his debut here in an ex-Yates Elliott Sadler car for Cunningham. Serio was very fast and was supposed to run Chicagoland not long after this as well. He made up 2 laps after a tangle with Frank Kimmel, only for what was going around coming back around when he wrecked off of Kimmel later on. That was the extent of his ARCA career, save a short track DNQ in 2005. 7. Rich posted: 09.12.2020 - 12:07 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Ralph Sheheen and Jim Tretow were the commentators.
