Kimmel's victory here was just the fifth of his ARCA career and his
first on dirt. He'd go on to win 15 ARCA races on unpaved tracks.

There were 3 lead changes

Jimmy Smith was a DNS and started 29th

Kimmel's winnings: $7,500

Kimmel won despite the engine overheating to over 280 degrees near the
end of the race!

Looking at the video posted here, Kimmel is driving a Chevy to victory
lane. The other dirt races that year had him behind the wheel of a Chevy
as well, so that would make sense.

This was the last ARCA race to date on a dirt short track. All of the
series' dirt races since have been on the big miles at DuQuoin and
Springfield.
