Most likely we won't see 190 MPH at any track other than Michigan again as both for how ARCA is slowly falling apart and safety for both drivers and fans. 12. Jeff posted: 10.01.2020 - 8:36 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) @12 At this point, yes they did. Keep in mind though that Glotzbach's car was basically Richard Childress (Dale Earnhardt)'s R&D car, and the 3 absolutely dominated the plate tracks that year. The story I have read was that NASCAR (or at least the NASCAR pres) told Charlie to keep the speed down a bit during his qualifying run so as to not overshadow the Cup boys. Glotzbach didn't really care and ran what he wanted, which ended up being a bit over 200 mph. I think there's a 7-8 mph difference in pole speeds between the ARCA race and the Cup race that weekend? There might've been a little difference in the package between the two series at this point but I don't know how much of a role it played. 14. KW posted: 10.01.2020 - 1:11 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Of course the France family was a major part of the ownership in ARCA from the early 1980's so there could have been some pull. 16. The crew found he had a broken fuel pump and couldn't turn a lap.
