Footage of the wrecks is available on YT and it was a pretty damn' eventful race. A HUGE wreck occurred off turn 4 and a very deserving winner. 2. He won the pole on his first lap with a time of 205.432 miles per hour (An ARCA record) then lost control and suffered a blowover on his second lap. The Amoco Ulimate #25 Chevrolet Monte Carlo wasn't in racing shape afterward but before Venturini could withdraw Phil Barkdoll, who had qualified for the NASCAR Winston Cup race the next day, came by and offered him the chance to run the race with a Monte Carlo he had on display at the track as a show car. Venturini cut the deal to do so and made it on track for this race...but unlike Cale Yarborough's miracle comeback at Daytona in 1983 Bill blew a motor and failed to finish. 12. Romell was airlifted to a local hospital for treatment after being rescued after suffering second and third degree burns (the latter on 5% of his body) with the helicopter taking off just as the race was restarted. 13. Glotzbach stepped away from racing for a while, displeased with the direction of the sport, but came back to race some more in late the late 1980s and early 1990s. Charlie's team had some extra help for this one as Junior Johnson and his Cup team helped prep his white #49 Chevrolet Monte Carlo for this race. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
